Defending the Indefensible

I grew very weary, quite early on, with the Bear show. Night after night I watched, hoping we'd get the chance to get to know the housemates, yet the only aspect of their personality we got to see regularly was how they dealt with Bear's constant baiting and childish behaviour.

My attention then switched to the forum and I found the fun I was looking for.... watching Bear's fans defend his behaviour. He was just playing, it was just fun, he's only having a laugh etc etc. The longer it went on, the more amazed I was at the inventive reasons his fans gave for his, at times, very nasty actions.

If a child behaved in the playground as he has done, it would not be accepted. Why, therefore, does BB class it as acceptable and his fans consider it to be 'fun'???

And then you get anti Bear FMs moaning about how many Bear threads there are.

interestingly, if Bear did squirt water into Sam's eye then that is certainly at least as bad as 'Spitgate' You can get a nasty parasite called acanthamoeba kerastasis from even a drop of water getting onto your contact lenses. It's really deeply unpleasant. Look it up and you'll see!

Apparently, all water has tonnes of different types of bacteria and the acanthamoeba just happens to be one of them.

If untreated, the parasite causes sight problems and paralysis or even death as it eats its way through the eye and into the spinal cord. The treatment to deal with it is pretty gruelling too.

As a contact lense wearer of many, many years I would class this as being at least as bad as the spitting incident that many are still upset about. If not worse, given what I have outlined above. If you wear contact lenses you have to take great care of your eyes to ensure you don't end up with problems. It's also certainly not a harmless prank if the intended recipient asks you not to do it and it could cause serious physical harm! This comes from someone that actually has enjoyed a lot of things involving Bear - I just think the producers have over exposed him and really it's not done anyone any favours. Hopefully they will learn from this for the next series.

Let's see he spilled coffee, broke some eggs and kissed a weird girl in there. Has he killed anyone, if not its all petty stuff that is being over dramatised here.

His behaviour is not typical for someone his age. It troubles me that so many are willing to ignore/excuse this. He is unusually immature.

On the other hand I do agree with you that many of his detractors try to fabricate his bad points in an effort to be dramatic.
