Samsung 42" TV - PS42456P2D - No picture - Blue light on front
We've had this TV about eight years now (manufactured October 2008) and it has worked fine. As of now it's not working properly. There is no picture coming up, although there was some sound. There's a blue light on the front and I've switched it off and back on again and also left it unplugged for a few minutes. Is it safe to say it's had it?
There was a power cut earlier and that is when the problem started, although we have had power cuts before and not had this issue It's not worth repairing so is it time to buy a new one? |

It could be a relatively simple thing like dodgy capacitors in the power supply. Samsung have "form" for fitting poor quality caps which fail prematurely.
If you know what you are doing it may be possible to take the TV apart, locate the power supply and identify any dodgy capacitors. Then if you know one end of a soldering iron from another it could be a DIY job to replace them. And a handful of caps are a load cheaper than a new telly!

Ask your local reputable tv repair guy. You might be surprised how economical it is to fix.

The power cut thing is an issue though. When the power came back it might have done some damage.
Also the model does not appear to exist, probably it's PS42B456B. Seemingly Danish version? I'm not sure it's worth the risk in spending money on it. |
