He hasn't hits for the last 30 years when was his last one
Google it.

You know, he wrote Careless Whisper when he was 17 years old. That alone was enough for him to get international recognition. He'll probably be remembered for decades to come. You don't have to like his music to appreciate his talent, or at the very least to have heard of him.

The first 2 would be on a school curriculum.

They wouldn't bother teaching about the last one.
I never learnt about Einstein at school and what makes you think that contemporary music isn't part of the UK schools curriculum?

I just knew as soon as they were having quiz type questions as a task that there would be a thread on here with people queuing up to call one of the younger ones thick.

Yes - all the older people on here who grew up with George Michael. Expecting all the youngsters to know not only which group sang a retro song which they must know, but also the name of the singer.

And if you don't know, you're thick - not simply lacking in a bit of knowledge.

And which of you knew the answer to ALL the questions - including the modern popular culture questions?

I put toast in a toaster.

And extra 30 seconds worth to get both sides even.
I'm messing around really, I bet they did that thing with her
'Say coast four times'
'Say roast four times'
'What do you put in a toaster?'

Basically they set her up for that one and even if she knew she played along. They edited her to make her look stupid.

Not knowing who George Michael is though, nearly as bad as not knowing who Fetty Wap is or The Weeknd are.

Unforgivable

Unfortunately 'What does CLL Dodge put in the toaster?' wasn't the question.

I think you might need a new toaster.

Who's calling the younger ones thick?

Aubrey's not thick, nor is Frankie.

I've only seen Marnie and Bear being called thick on this forum which is fair enough because it's true and I'm sure they'd say the same.

No, they really didn't. When she said toast, she really thought she had the right answer.

Well it's a trick I've played on people and they thought they had the right answer too

Try what I wrote above on someone and see! It's worth a chuckle.

No seriously, watch it again - they didn't set her up for it at all.

Aww man!

(I bet they just say the last bit of what I typed, they'd already said the first bit but cut it out)

Same as "How do you spell silk?" and "What do cows drink?" (the correct answer being water, not milk). It's just a matter of encouraging people to speak before thinking. Marnie's a natural at that, though I'm sure she can operate a toaster correctly when required. She could probably sing the chorus to Careless Whisper too, if you played the music to her.

George Michael's most successful song, Careless Whisper, was a hit in 1984, 32 years ago and eight years before Marnie was born.

It's like people who were 24 in the early 90s knowing the name of every 60s artist. Not realistic.

Dunno about that, I knew a lot of my parents music. Maybe not taken to the extreme that you've put it but I knew a lot of songs and a fair few artists too.

My point still stands.

This thread wasn't just about 'one' of the younger ones (which would include Aubrey and Frankie), it's about Marnie specifically who isn't intelligent by any stretch.

It's okay to like her and I don't care if you do, but she wears her lack of intelligence like a badge of honour so there's really no need for you to get all defensive by proxy about it.

But you're right, it's late, I'm off

A lot of people wear their stupid on their sleeve. It's definitely not to be celebrated and it's actually quite embarrassing and cringe worthy.

She's probably one of those types (honestly I don't know enough of her to tell properly) but I still think they set her up for that question about toast.

(And I did go and have a look)

He's been in the charts many times during Marnie's lifetime.

Elvis died the year I was born but if you hum it I could probably sing along. Hell, I could quote Jesus of Nazareth, for God's sake.

I wasn't at all surprised she got the toast question wrong. It's a trick question. Much like what do cows drink? It's designed to trick your brain. And you answer quickly before really engaging in the question properly.

And it certainly doesn't make you a 'thick bitch'.
