I

The fact that she earns good money is a by-product of being on that show and no discernible talent of any description is really required from what I can see.

I wouldn't even put that down to being street smart - luck is more like it IMO

It's possible that we're being unfair but in the generally understood meaning of the term 'thick' I think Marnie fits quite well and as we've all said, she does so rather unashamedly too [/QUOTE]

Hmm, I disagree.

Many have had just one season on the big three UK reality shows and sunk without a trace, having failed to connect with the audience. Being able to perform your life in a way which engages and charms over a million viewers IS a 21st century talent. Marnie has lasted four years in GS because she is sweet and funny and very likeable.

Even if you think she's reading from a script, as many on here mistakenly do, you have to give her credit for being a competent actress.

It's NOT a piece of piss to make money out of reality.

In other words, she made the best of her personality and looks, and has a understanding of the kind of industry she is in and made sure she can stay in it for as long as possible.

Although, i think she made a mistake or was lead astray by her agent/management when they thought it was a good idea for that nonense with Lewis. I don't think Big Brother's format works for her like maybe GS type of show does.

I'm a geordie and I don't think I've come across anyone who isn't ashamed at the programme.
In fact when MTV first announced plans to do Geordie Shore, there were attempts to get the plans cancelled. Sadly they failed.
I think the original show Jersey Shore had a lot of Italian Americans up in arms but failed to get the show cancelled too.

It must be a question of perception in that case because others on here have said she's crap and really unpopular on the show.

Who's right - you or them?

And re your

'it's NOT a piece of piss to make money out of reality'

I can't take you seriously. I can reel off 10 jobs without thinking too hard that require more of a person than any kind of acting does - reality or otherwise.

They're hardly going down a coalmine.

I've got no desire to see any of these shows cancelled - if folk want to watch them, I couldn't give a shit.

What I object to is a. the notion that being on them is proper bloody challenging and b. that they keep appearing on shows I DO want to watch!!

Oh it's far from challenging when you compare it to many regular jobs or jobs on TV, it's a case of having a look, certain personaitlty and how far you would go to make yourself look silly on TV. That's what works well for these type of shows.
When these shows die out or no longer have any use for the people, it's up to them to make that fame last and find other avenues in media, Now that is a challange.

Unfortuantly the only way to avoid these guys is to avoid Ch5 and all ITV stations..
