Bear is a hypocrite, how is the mask any different to the housemates coffee which he tried to smuggle out with Saira. He was on a basic shopping budget and took it from the housemates on a luxury budget.

Exactly I would have hid it, he was losing the plot over the loss of it. How pathetic after what he has done with the coffee, eggs and other food!
I've just said on another thread, that the mask has massive significance for Bear. Not because it is linked to Chloe, but because it is linked to luck. I believe he really thinks it has brought him luck. That's why he wears it at every eviction and he believes it has helped save him. The reason that he flipped out was because without his mask, he loses his luck and may not win. If only the HMs realised that the mask is his kryptonite, it needs to be destroyed. It would be such poetic justice if they ruined something he values, like he has continually ruined their BB experience.
