People always go on about this "waste" thing with Anton but, if he was so useless, why is he the joint longest-serving pro on the show? As for his perceived inability in Latin, how the hell did he ever pass the audition to become a Strictly pro then? All I know is, he is far better than me at Latin so, I tend reserve my judgement

Personally, I would love to see him get a younger, more able contestant this (like Louise, for example) just because we haven't seen that dynamic before. Who knows, they may just bring out the best in him. In addition, it would be nice to finish off what is probably his last year with a bang!”

I don't think he's useless - he's very very good at being entertaining with less able celebs and that's why he's lasted so long. He's better at Latin than the average person off the street, but noticeably worse than all the other pros on the show and says himself he doesn't like it. I now feel like I've seen the dynamic with someone younger with Katie and, as I said, I don't feel she was hard done by, but I also don't feel he has the ability to up his game with anyone better than her. I think he threw all he had at it with Katie last year and I didn't even get the impression that he was particularly enjoying the pressure by the end.

BIB. Whatever the reasons, it is NOT because he's good at dancing, choreographing or teaching latin .

He doesn't even feature in latin pro dances - or if he does, it's in some static cameo; or else it's a mickey-take where we all join with him in the hilarity: Look! Look! Anton's doing samba! 😞 . He holds it in open disdain (though my suspiscion is that that's largely blather to cover his discomfort with the situation).

I suspect he's endured on the show as long as he has precisely because he's willing to nursemaid some of the more challenged/challenging ladies round the ballroom and do it with humour and good grace, whilst turning out some nice ballroom here and there.

2nd BIB: The show should always aim to give the celebrity the best experience they can have, not the pro. (And wasn't lovely Katie Derham supposed to be his big get-him-to-the-final hurrah?! ).

If someone decent really wants to be with Anton because they think they'll have the most fun, or they're not fussed about latin, fair enough, but the celebs only get to do Strictly once and for anyone able, who really wants to stretch themselves, I do think being with Anton would be a lost opportunity.

Ed Balls, but this is looking like a close one.

I'm in the too close to call camp. Think the male celebs might pick up votes for attractiveness and or sympathy votes even if they do badly from female voters.
The female celebs need to be quick out the blocks to stand out.

The newspapers new favourite story now is Ed Balls secret ballroom competitor -

I've nothing against the poor chap -and from the red carpet show he seems fun- but I hope it's Melvin, just because I don't know him. All the others I'll be sorry to see go, either because they really look as though they want to learn to dance or they look as though they'll be good and thus interesting to watch. I can't remember liking the look of a whole cast as much as I do this one!

I don't think politics works like that. I know people are partisan, but supporting Labour/Tory etc is not like being a fan.
