Car holder
What's best? iPhones really. Probably 2 x SE but maybe SE and a 4 for a while. The Belkin one looks OK.

Doesn't that knacker the phone or the battery or something?

I use a Brodit the clip stays on the dash I put the holder in the glove box when not in use, any t-leafs that may look there's no obvious sign of a phone holder.

Brodit are the expensive ones where they make a holder for the phone and for the car right? They are more expensive but you do get something custom designed for each car and phone then.
I have a Macally one which is well made, fits on the vents really well and has sides that close to pinch the phone on each side with a button for release. I'm really happy with it, I tried loads before settling on that one which I've used for 2 years now. This is the one, it's great https://www.amazon.co.uk/Macally-VEN.../dp/B00TS76LF4 |

+1 for Brodit. Yes, they're expensive - but unsurpassed in terms of fitting your phone, as they're custom made to the phone model and even the car if you want to fit it semi-permanently. You can also get active ones that charge as soon as you slot your phone in, without any messing about plugging cables in. If you change your phone or car, you can just buy a new cradle (for the phone) or a new bracket (for the car).
Bloomin' love them. I don't bother removing the cradle when I leave the car though. I don't see what risk there is in a potential thief knowing I own a mobile phone - and that it's very likely to be in my pocket wherever I've gone. |

I use this one. Cheap as chips and works surprisingly well.

Kenu Airframe+ didn't work well with my Mazda2's vents. Holds the phone very well though.

I don't get the vent mounts. I presume the people recommending them don't have aircon?

Like the Brodit ones. Sort of between cars at the moment and I doubt they do one for '93 Hilux with monster wheels and trees growing in the back. So will get one of the recommended cheapies until my L200 arrives.

Given how hot my phone gets when on a mount on the windscreen, perhaps having cold air blowing on it will help
My pet hate is a sucker mount, Never found one that is secure on the dash and leaves unsightly marks on the windscreen. I have a beanbag mount to use in a vehicle were it is impracticable to use a vent mount. |

It was the one that came with the HTC One M7 car kit - it was rock solid and never fell off, unlike every other sucker mount you tend to see. The whole mount, device-specific cradle, and automatic phone switch to 'car mode' was a great combination. It's such a shame that HTC haven't produced a phone-specific one since the M8. That's pretty much why I fell out of love with HTC at the time. |

Another vote for the Brodit here. I have an active charging holder hard wired in to my car so I also don't have to mess around with cables.
