I was not trying to get a dig in at anyone, and I thank people for pointing out as to why it was called off, all I have seen is that the pitch was waterlogged, and seeing as Leighton!s was not, that just got me wondering that was all.
There was no dig implied or anything like that.

Also it as our under 23 side playing Villerreal's side of that age range in the Premier League International Cup (of which Villerreal are the defending champions).
You had already been told it was due to transport chaos and then you still got a cheap dig in over the drainage system at City's ground which is par for the course.

There are sufficient vagaries in weather within a few miles for some games to be playable and others not.

In other news, United v Bournemouth being postponed confirms United have worse match day security than Leigh, whose game last night went ahead.

You have not seen that the pitch was waterlogged, as it was not waterlogged.

At 7.30 the pitch was perfectly playable and the ball was running absolutely fine.

Where did you get your misinformation from?

I don't see the connection - Leigh is 25 miles away?

Regardless of whether it was a cheap dig or not it's no secret that city have been mocked for some time for their attendances.

As a Manchester United fan and someone who was born in Manchester I'm not going to get all precious about someone taking the piss about it.

Could it be that they are both in Greater Manchester, or to push it wider the North West, and thus it's all a bit the same??

Either way the pitch at the council house was waterlogged no matter what some are suggesting, travel problems were a concern as was player safety with the lightening still flashing around the city.

Today we are hearing of Monchengladbach complaining that the game is being played tonight rather than during the day, as many of there fans can't stay to watch the game. City are claiming they can't get the staff to safely host the game till tonight. It's all a bit silly if you ask me, is there not a UEFA directive on this matter to follow??

I guess we won't hear any complaints about having to play games close together due to the postponement as you would later in the season.

The rain wasn't going to fall at the same rate over a 25 miles radius at the same time. I didn't see anyone I know from that neck of the woods saying it was anywhere near the level it was in the centre of Manchester.

City are probably right - most of the staff are employed by Showsec and people do it as an aside to having a real job. They're not going to be able to just bunk off work at a few hours notice.

That's true, we had bad rain inbetween here in Eccles, but it wasn't like it was in the city centre, though some are disputing the fact it was the hottest day of the year, when it's been officially recorded as such. So I'm not sure they can grasp that the weather is different in different areas at the same time.

As for the staffing, I think Monchengladbach were hoping to play behind near enough closed doors and gain an advantage over a lot fewer city fans in the stadium.

Haven't seen anyone go for a cheap dig at City's attendances or anyone accused of it either.

So because United are closing the stands for one game tomorrow we should ignore the countless times that city have empty seats?

What do you feel about others on here who make jokes about city's empty seats ? Because it's hardly the first time it's happened.

I suppose it depends on who's making the jokes ?

I've got a Bertie next door to me who lay in wait for my husband after the 1-6 game and spent most of the afternoon singing very loudly in his living room after the Aguero goal to wind us up. He's actually a decent bloke apart from that. Half my family are city fans , one of whom has been trolling me on Facebook since Saturday.

So if I want to laugh at City for whatever reason I'm perfectly entitled to do so without being arsed about anyone tut tutting about it.

If that makes me small time then bring it on.

Its nothing to do with being small time its looking a knob when we don't fill ours. Back in the day when we were packed to the rafters all the time you have the upper hand but we're as bad nowadays.

The cheap dig in question was about City's drainage system, not the respective attendances of City and United.

You've missed the point. But nice to be off your ignore list, nevertheless.
Presumably you make an exception to the ignore function each time I post.

No, sometimes I feel the need to confirm what I already know about your contributions. As you are probably also aware the ignore function is also far from perfect.

Ignore is fully effective unless you are quoted elsewhere, which hadn't happened until your post above.

So I'm not on ignore is the answer. Maybe your selective use of it is the problem rather than the function itself.

What are you on about? A poster made a dig about City's match being called off while a reserve match 25 miles away went ahead, people called them out for it. Don't know why you brought up their attendances.

For the record, I don't really care about people making digs at rival clubs, although as Jo says it's probably best not to hit them over something that can be thrown straight back in your face.

I also don't need a crystal ball to predict who is going to respond whenever this poster makes a comment that has ruffled someone's feathers either.

I also presume that some United fans managed to restrain themselves from laughter when Gerrard slipped because we had no right to mock during the season of Moyes?

Sunderland fans were mocking us after the Aguero winner. Sunderland who have no right considering their history.

It's what fans do. Although in Sunderland s case it was odd because there is no rivalry with us that I'm aware of .

Ain't having a dig at local rivals attendances just standar for footy fans... Newcastle and Sunderland do it about middlesborough, London fans take the mickey out of Highbury library etc?

Edit.. As above..

Well I always thought it was.

That term some Arsenal fans use if they finish above Spurs at the end of the season? Tottinghams day or something like that?

It is standard, and we all do it. However a rival having their game called off due to an impossible situation with weather firmly out of their control is an absolutely bizarre reason for "having a dig."

The attendance criticism was brought up by Ninny and nobody else and was wholly irrelevant.

Except it might help if you actually read what people were talking about instead of going on a bizarre tangent.

And as for your point about Gerrard's slip, yeah I laughed. Not because I thought they were shite (they weren't and we were a lot worse) but because watching them lose the title in such mental fashion was funny. If it was the former, it would be thrown straight back in my face by any of the Liverpool fans I know.

To use an analogy, if you have a rich prick for a neighbour and they fall in the snow, you'd laugh cos it's funny. But you'd probably laugh less if it was over him having a dent in his Ferrari while you have one in your Fiat.

It tends to be for a reason and a lot of the shit going at City for the lack of attendance is justified. Just seems like bad timing when they can easily say the same about us. But since the original 'dig' was over ****ing drainage systems which is just pathetic, really don't see how/why this is such an issue.

Tottenham and Leicester games both worth a watch this eve from a neutral perspective... Tottenham to see what Wembley looks like with them and how it works, and Leicester 'cos it's Leicester..

You'll have free reign on the empty seats tonight, expect there to be plenty.
