Apparently Pep wants to swamp the midfield. Might work. Starve Barca's front three of the ball....

Easier said than done really.

Looks like a very defensive side from City, not strikers just sends out the white flag to me.

They've not started defensively. Good start to the game.

Shockingly poor defending from City, to allow Messi of all people the freedom of the whole penalty area to make it 1-0.

Perhaps then then should have.

I can't see any way back now that they don't have a striker on the pitch to score a goal for them.

Not sure actually. Still looks the same as when 0-0, Barca most certainly not ripping City to bitgs. The goal was only because Fernandinho fell flat on his face. Only found it free on Virgin Media about 10mins in. Presumably i'm the last to find out and everyone else is watching it for free, as its free on Sky too

Shouldn't give Messi such an opportunity

City have been doing okay up until the goal.

They have the tricky situation now of not having a goalscorer on the pitch to try and get back into the game, so Barcelona can pretty much dictate what sort of game it is now.

City need Aguero on asap, if they want to get anything out of this game now.

What a goal that would have been by Gundogan. Great save too.

City need to take some of these chances, as Barcelona won't miss too many when they have them.

I never thought I would be saying this, but, Walcott is on fire at the moment.

Man City have held their own pretty well, in terms of possession and shots on goal.

It was only when the City defenders had that deer in headlight moment that led to them conceding that goal.

Expecting a good second half.

Yep. Was expecting a thrashing after the goal but if anything City played even better after Barca scored.

But will it be a consolation goal, or a goal that matters, that will be the big question.

Good start to the second half from City, they really do need Aguero on to take advantage of these chances.

Arsenal to seem to play better when Giroud is not playing
