Are they returning or not?

Apparently they are former characters but Kat especially still has stories to tell.

I should think Kat will return eventually but not Alfie.

I don't know when though, I guess we'll get to know in due course.

To be honest the whole Kat and Alfie thing is being handled very weirdly. They can't return to EE until there spin off has aired- I assume they have finished filming that now. There were screen shots on DS a while back of them filming and Jessie Wallace is starring in a stage production of Chicago at the moment.

The whole thing has been bizarre to be honest- they should have just done a few episodes on locations in order for Kat to track down her son.

Is there a rule that they cannot return until Redwater has.aired then?

No, but one assumes that for their scenes to make any kind of sense Redwater would air first.

Surely if they return to EE and start talking about what they did in Redwater it would make watching it absolutely pointless when it finally aired? Unless you advocate Kat and Alfie returning and having coded conversations and secret looks and tedious and repetitive moments where they almost talk about what happened in Redwater but then don't?

They probably can't announce whether or not they're returning yet or it will spoil the ending of Redwater.

Hopefully after Redwater concludes we'll get a big announcement saying Kat is coming back.

I would like to see Kat return but not Alfie.

Redwater doesn't air untill early next year, wasn't the rumour that they wanted to make Redwatwe into an ongoing series so maybe Kat nor Alfie will return, im sure we will hear something after it has aired though

Neither of them should come back - they are awful people, utterly rotten to the core. Kat is particularly repulsive.

I just think everything will remain up in the air until Redwater finishes it's 6 episode run on TV. Then they'll either plough on with a second series or have Kat and maybe Alfie return to EE. We won't find out anything until after Redwater though so that's February at the earliest.

Jessie & Shane are very good friends and I don't think Kat will return without Alfie.

Ideally I would like to see Kat back with her adult Son and her three other boys to bolster Belinda who is fabulous.

Kat and Alfie are still listed as present characters on the EE website, whilst characters who are currently absent but returning (Max and supposedly Cora) are not.

I think that their return is deliberately being kept a secret. If we knew that Kat and Alfie were both returning then we would know that they make it out in one piece. Similar,y if we knew that only Jessie was returning then it would give away major clues as to the outcome.

Maybe we see them at Xmas

I'd love to see them both back in the main show.

I'm not bothered about Alfie but I don't think Jessie will return without Shane so if it gets Kat back I'll happily take Alfie back too.

think that's because DTC wanted to redeem Kat again by redoing Lorraine Newman's storyline. hopefully a new producer will see Kat's future and how she can move on from her past of sexual abuse, can see her becoming a legendary matriarch if she stays on

Kat is needed otherwise I feel that this story was a waste especially as not everyone wilm watch the spin off or forget about it. Same with Alfie's tumour. Waste of time adding it to send him away to a spin off and to not come back to main show. Like I say the spin off can easily be forgotten about. They need to come and tie up the loose ends in the show and kill Alfie off and keep Kat and her son if he is a good character around.

If Kat did return would they keep the same Actor who plays her Son in RedWater?

Is Redwater still on the cards ? Kat and Alfie took a break from EE in April 2015 to film Redwater, which was supposed to air in the Autumn. It doesn't make very much sense that it has not aired yet.

I know that stills have already been released, but does anyone think the show might have been cancelled before it has aired ? This is conceivable with a new EP and BBC funding cuts.

I felt that Alfie just got interesting for the first time in a long time just before he left. Love Kat, but it takes a special EP to get her right.
