The direction and the writing. She did nothing but moan and stick her nose in people's businesses at one point. Especially at how domineering she was her mother. Although I feel Sonia has become very likeable over the last several months.

I don't mind Sonia when she is connected with the Fowler Slatefs, I just don't like her with the Carters.

The problem is that she is connected to a big part of the shows history and characters- its unlikely that she will be axed.

She's just dull. I am neutral to her tbh but she can be annoying. I think she needs her own family unit around her and not the carters and used as their slave pretty much. She's treated like a second class citizen by them. I'm suprised Whitney and Tamwar weren't.

She's just complete deadweight on this show and it makes no sense to me how much better characters and actors have been axed over the years yet Sonia ALWAYS remains.

Her unpopularity stems from about a year ago when she was just moaning, nosy, interfering. She's definitely improved recently, though Tina is dragged her down immensely.
I still think the writers made a mistake splitting Martin and Sonia up. They have a real spark in the scenes they have together, which I've never felt when Martin's with Stacey or Sonia's wth Tina. |

I don't mind Sonia.
However, just because she is unpopular on DS doesn't necessarily make her universally loathed. DS is a reasonably small community in comparison to the ratings for the soaps. |

Think about it, Vas... Horrible Sonia wouldn't be called Horrible Sonia if she wasn't horrible, would she?

Agreed. Let's also not forgot her stealing the charity money
![]() It's a shame that storyline never happened now. They could of jailed Sonia and have used that as a way to write Natalie out for her maternity leave |

Look at Pauline and Arthur's relationship for instance, Pauline was often cleaning up his mess but there was more to them than just that. |

There was a period a while back when she was self-righteous, moody, patronising and interefering. She's improved a bit now, but I still don't like her as a character partly because of her relationship with Tina. I literally skip scenes involving those two. Tina is, in my opinion, the worst character on the show. Completely infantile. She talks like a bloody teenager and I can't stand that smug grin she seems to have plastered on her face. Good on Martin for showing her up as the selfish, smug brat that she is.

It's how they use her. I actually don't mind when she is being judgemental and bossy, it's at least interesting and gives her dimensions as a character. It's when she and Tina are together that I find it to be a yawn fest, Sonia is disapproving of Tina's behaviour and that's it.

Yes she is SOOOOOOO Boring. i was just thinking how old she is supposed to be, probably going into her thirties. Look at Shirley, who is often (well a couple of years ago) up for drinks and when Heather was still there they would do lots of things like going out and have booze fests. And they are a lot older than Sonia. Now we have Denise and carmel just having a good time and they are a lot older than Sonia. Sonia acts like a 60 plus woman with her behaviour |
