No, if he returns he should get an American equivalent of Ann Widdecombe.

[quote=bendymixer;83757648]Yes think there was - their height difference is about 12" I think so very extreme - although Alijaz would have difficulty doing 'proper' ballroom to his standard with Jannette due to her very limited ballroom experience
I am 100% sure that Aljaz was refering to the height differences between him and Janette, He loves janette too much to suggest otherwise and give the oportunity to haters to critisize Janette everytime they have an opportunity, haters that show their lack of much more important things other than ballroom skills. |

Anton's partnership with Jerry Hall saw the latter taller than the man. So sometimes it has to be done. Other tall partnerships where the woman was taller than the man with heels - Lisa Snowdon with Brendan and Penny Lancaster with Ian.
M I will never forget Natalie Cassidy trying to excuse the lack of lifts in her jive as due to ,Vincent and her being the same height ... which they were not! |

I'd say no because the partnership and personality is more important and weather they get along and have a good bond

Thought Ola & Robbie were not too bad, particularly compared to the other tall partners she has had.

Absolutely. There is reason at all why both the man and woman couldn't be the same height and still look good, especially since in ballroom the man's and woman's relative posture slightly disguise the height difference, with the lady's poise being such that her body is towards the left with slight (not exaggerated) backward tilt from the hips, whereas the man's poise is straighter. In particular a good male professional will pick up more and look taller than he really is.

"Hate" has nothing to so with anything. it's a horrid word, and I'm sure no one hates Janette. . I'm sure she is a lovely girl, and as you say Aljaz loves her. But that doesn't alter the fact that the standard of her ballroom is poor.

I like Janette as a person BUT she is a lousy ballroom dancer - I just made a flip remark - was nothing to do with Janette as a person or her and Aljaz as a couple it was just about height - I actually KNOW Janette and Aljaz as one of my ex pupils who is now in Burn The Floor is a close friend and I have met them several times BEFORE strictly I don't spend my life criticizing people on the Internet either - BUT for your information my family and I have achieved quite a lot IN the dance world - and as a judge in that world nothing will ever alter the fact that I think Janette is poor at ballroom nothing to do with her as a person at all just a fact |

I feel for latin dancers it doesn't seem to matter too much, but for competitive ballroom dancers, ladies height with shoes should ideally be around the same height, give or take an inch or two. There have been and are currently Pro's that have substantial differences in height and they cope admirably. The balance of couples of a similar height is one thing, plus the personal centres and the centres of the couple will be of similar height from floor, essential for power, weight shift and swing.
Of course SCD is not a competition but I still don't like to see big height differences from an aesthetic viewpoint. |

No, you took a swipe at her as you have done several times in the past and as you'll likely do again in the future just for your personal pleasure. It takes a lot of effort, hard work and years of dedication to get places in this World, and Janette has done that, not everybody can say the same. You are correct in as much as it does take years of dedication and hard work to "get places in this world" - not to mention some luck-, but you can't ignore the fact that, as lovely as Janette is, she studied dance late in life ( late as far as a dancer is concerned) , got known for her stint as a contestant on So You Think You Can Dance, then latterly BTF, but certainly has had no formal Ballroom training. This stands out a mile to me. Compare her dance background to most of the other professionals on the show, who have been trained in ballroom and latin since they were tiny. As said, I love Janette and especially her as a couple with Alijaz, but technically she is one of the worst dancers on the show. A show that is based on Ballroom/Latin dancing. |

I am not concerned about her ballroom skills or lack thereof, and I do not care if she is sweet or not, I am talking about the fact that everytime the subject comes up the same people take their time to attack her on it, over and over again, how many times do the same people have to make the same point if not to make her look bad as many times as they can? the subject matter is height differences when partnering, not ballroom expertise, Bendymixer remarks were sarcastic and had nothing to do with the subject at hand.

As Jennifer F rightly said, Bendymixer's opinion, like that of others of us who are involved and experienced in the world of ballroom & Latin dancing, is based on fact, not sarcasm. None of us said anything derogatory about Janette herself as a person, just one aspect of her dancing.
A poster brought a comment by Aljaz where he states that because of their height difference, he and Janette would never be able to dance ballroom propperly, to which Bendymixer responded with a sarcastic remark and suggested that it was her lack of ballroom training that would stop them from ever achiving that goal, that is not what Aljaz was reffering to, nor was the topic of conversation. Is it Bendimixer's opinion? yes, does Bendimixer has the right to say it? yes, and I have the right to say that she brings it up everytime she has an opportunity to take a swipe at Janette, that was a cheap attempt from a Ballroom Judge who claims to have meet Janette through third party "friends' some of whom only dream of being on Strictly. I think the tactic of saying, I love her or she is a sweet girl before attempting to delegitimize her place on Strictly is pathetic as well, after all this is a "Ballroom Competition". therefore the use of the dagger. Again, anybody's right to point out what they see as defficiencies in a dancer or celebrity or a judge on Strictly is what this forum is all about, but everytime somebody comes here to repeatedly trash Janette or make the same point dozens of times just to make themselves relevant will have my dissent. |

before I put you on ignore I have never repeatedly trashed Janette on here I have only ever said she is not good at ballroom and that is usually in conversation about dance (it hasn't altered since she joined show ) this one thread was about height and I made a flip remark re the ballroom dancing not her or Aljaz - you are entitled to your opinion yes, but not on me personally - I have made no personal comments about you or Janette for that matter

The main point should not be lost here, the conversation was about height differences in a Ballroom couple and their abilitiy to dance effectively while coping with that challenge, therefore my reaction to bendymixer's comments.

Maybe he couldn't dance a competitively decent waltz with her because of the height difference, but there is absolutely no reason why they couldn't dance a lovely, personal, romantic waltz together, for their own enjoyment. If anyone thinks it is impossible, they should trot along to a decent medallist competition and watch how many juveniles (under 12yrs) dance with their teachers who are often anything up to 6'. Waltzes, foxtrots, tangos - you name it, they can do it, and very beautiful they look too (and they're often a great deal shorter than Janette). |

Very well, keeping it to the subject of height difference..... According to post no. 19 on this thread, Aljax said he wouldn't be able to dance a romanitc waltz with Janette because of the height difference. I'm afraid that is nonsense.

Joanne Bolton is an example of a very succesful ballroom specialist who has spent her career dancing with partners significantly taller than her, maybe not massively so as in the case of Alijaz and Janette but even so a fair difference, especially when dancing with Chris. .

I enjoyed watching those. Thank you. (Educational to be able to see the footwork so clearly, too). Is she dancing right up on her tiptoes because of the height difference, or is that normal? On a shallow note, I love the movement in the skirt of the black dress
