The stark truth is that Bear won because he appeals to stupid people....

Thickos generally win BB and are celebrated by a good number of people. Does it follow that voters are also thick? No. Just that they get enjoyment from watching thick people. I guess it is why the Jeremy Kyle show is so popular.

Oh please. Ricky Norwood was so boring they couldn't even be bothered to film him die on EastEnders.

I've barely posted this year; but I'll say this much. Anyone who found Bear 'entertaining' worries me. Genuinely.

If what he did was funny, or witty, or original, or anarchic in some way; I could understand it. But it wasn't. It was humourless and merciless and without a shred of empathy or emotional intelligence.

My lasting memory of Bear on CBB will be how unhappy and angry he seemed to be almost all the time. The only time he seemed happy was when he had succeeded in making someone else upset and uncomfortable.

Anyone who finds that 'entertaining' worries me. Not because they're stupid; because that's very disturbing behaviour to find 'entertaining'.

Something I've realised is that if Bear was a woman that had gone round goading at people, throwing a glass at a mirror and threatening to "smash this gaff up", there's absolutely no way he would have won.

Same as if it was a VTE. He would have gone at the first possible opportunity in either of these instances.

I found it funny when Bear pied Aubrey - and then her attempting 'A pie for a pie' as Bear quipped.

It was done for entertainment. Hardly disturbing.

It upset Aubrey because of her vanity. (Imagine he had done it to Marnie - she would have laughed.)

Aubrey's revenge was more disturbing - an over-escalation and just a little bit out of control.

I mostly agree with that, but it seems to me it was anarchic in some way. Why not?

And original too because there hasn't been anything quite like it in BB before.

But this is where we've been headed for a while now with the likes of Gina, Dexter, Marc and Perez being popular, and Jim Davidson, Helen, and Charlotte Crosby winning.

Oh I know, we've seen it with another quite significant vote in Britain this summer, but I probably shouldn't open that can of worms.

But yes, to assume the other side are stupid because they disagree with your opinion is staggeringly arrogant to say the least.
Surely it depends on the "opinion" they're disagreeing with, and on what they believe instead.

The basics of 'piss-taking' or 'WUM' shouldn't have to be explained; but hey ho. It works within families and close friendship groups; because we know each other and we know each other's limits.

If he had pied Marnie that would have been mildly amusing for some (with low/slapstick standards); because they're friends. He pied Aubrey BECAUSE they don't like each other. It was never going to be funny and it was always going to piss her off. It was done for Bear's particular brand of 'entertainment'; making people feel uncomfortable and exacerbating pre-existing friction. That's all he ever does. It's always got that nasty undertone and he keeps digging and picking until he gets people angry and/or upset - because that's what he gets off on. Sad little man that he is.

I don't think it was anarchic at all; because he knew exactly how far (very far) the producers would let him push it. He was repeatedly given the 'stop that now, you naughty boy' line by BB but it never went beyond that; except for when the security guard stepped in and he stepped back sharpish. Any hint of authority and he put on his Shirely Temple act and went all doe-eyed. And he got away with it. Again and again and again.

It's all been done before. As you say, Marc and Perez were also wind-up merchants; though, IMO both were a lot more discerning in their targets; more witty and smarter than Bear could ever hope to be.

I don't quite understand why you felt the need to include the first paragraph, because it is irrelevant. We are watching it on the telly, not partaking.

If I find something funny, I laugh. It's what people do - differing senses of humour exist. It's subjective. And if you deride someone's sense of humour, you are not correct, or superior, just different. No matter how you explain it.

I wouldn't worry yourself about feeling 'genuinely' worried.

As a series one fan I can honestly say I've really not enjoyed this year's series. terrible throughout and dire winners.
I was an original BB US fan all the way through till the last 5 years (feed buying and all) and only got into BBUK with Series 10 onward (live in Canada, availability of online episodes was harder to come by until around then) but I went back and watched 5 through 7 and bits of 8 and it was fascinating television. They've definitely lost their way these last 3 years. I'm Big Brothered-out for the summer.

Bear winning proves that people don't actually care what a person is like. They only care how big a fool he or she (mostly he's) make the others look.

BB will see him winning as vindication for an open license to cast even bigger stirrers/wank*** from now on. Any few limiters they had on before will come off now.

It's the same class of people who see the harassment of that Ghostbusters lady, Leslie Jones, and find it amusing rather than deeply disturbing. Apparently a generation or two of sociopaths are clogging up society.

He was always going to win.Like i have said a million times the show has been scripted for him to win.

Quite honestly the guy is a disgrace, those that voted for him are just as disgraceful for the fact that they let some one like that win.

However at the end of the day, the only good thing from last night was that the show is over.

I doubt BB will change there ways for the future, they will pick another ex on the beach, Geordie shore, reality star and throw them in front of us.

Glad this show is over!

I can't deny that I watch the odd episode of CBB, but I would never admit that to any friend or person in my real life. Because CBB is f*ing embarrassing. The kind of people that vote for this rubbish are the same kind that watch TOWIE ffs. I'm not at all surprised that another chav won.

👏🏾Spot on. There is no way I would ever give my money to channel 5. Big brother has turned into a towie/ Geordie shore type of show and I can only imagine the producers cheering at the numpties who they now attract.
