Foals at Reading. Incredible performance. Their instrumentation sounds exactly the same live as on record. A reminder of how pure and organic music can be.

and i'd like to see foals put on the kind of dance performance that britney does, horses for courses and all that. it's so pretentious to try and bolster one performer by dragging another one down.

Bit of a contradiction in terms here. Music being "organic" would suggest that they don't sound the same live as they do on the record. Personally I always prefer it when a band makes some changes live (particularly to older songs), rather than just playing it exactly the same as the album - any band can do that. Sounding the same as the album is easy.

Ok but music is about music not dancing. So do you agree that Foals are better musicians than Brittany?

I mean that the bass lines and guitar licks sound the same meaning they aren't down to studio enhancements. They do change up the songs and add bits.

i don't think anybody put you in charge of how to define what music is but, yes, i would agree that foals are better at playing instruments than britney is.

Foals were new to me, so I recorded their Reading gig and have listened to about half of it so far. It seems very nice, easy to listen to and quite atmospheric, but they'll never come close to Pink Floyd!
