I have a beautiful rescue dog...
We got her from a rescue center almost 2 years ago. She was over bred in a puppy farm and when we got her home she was a shadow of herself at only 4 years old. We have loved her and although she is afraid of her own self, she has become an important part of our family.
She eats her own shit, always has, always will do, no matter what we try to do... her least redeeming feature but my little shit eating dog will always have more integrity than Bear. I'm horrified he won |

Glad your dog found a loving and happy home.
Poor thing so sad. I can't stand Bear either. |

Have you tried Stool Stop? Also if you feed wet food, stop! They eat their own shit when they have wet food because it still smells of the meat. If you feed dry it doesn't. If you have already tried that, then sorry for sticking my bib in!

There is another thread calling Bear 'inspirational' - something I take great exception to. I would just like to say that what you have done in rehoming this needy and vulnerable dog is, in fact, truely inspirational. Well done you - you have my best wishes.

Some dogs just are copraphagic (eat their own poop) because no one knows the exact cause, it makes it very hard to stop it...there are many theories as to why they might do it, but none have been proved eg, zinc deficiency, copying the mother dog keeping the den clean, hunger etc.
Of course there are medical reasons as to why some dogs do this, like hypothyroidism, which is why one of mine does it too. We tried everything with him, like curry powder on a poop, but he seemed to just like poop madras, pineapple chunks intheir food, but it did turn out he was hypothyroid and is now on medication for it.o |

As she has a livery yard it could be very embarassing when potential clients were about. |

My dog copies her (excellent) mum by licking my hand furiously and directing it across the top of her head to wash places she can't reach.

![]() ![]() However I have to admit the folden retriever and the westie are partial to the occasional horse poo - but not to the extent of the cairn terrier, who was always at it

My poodle won't touch it - but is rather fastidious, she kicks her water bowl to get it changed if there is a speck of anything in it.
