Transporting a led tv by car

I need to transport a 32in Toshiba lcd by car to the south of France (about 1000 miles).
The car will be pretty full including a dog.
Would it be possible to transport it lying face down?
I don't have a box and the TVs is about 5 years old.
Many thanks.
Ray.

Transporting it standing up vertically would be better, but as long as there's no weight resting on the screen surface and you watch out for pot holes and take care over speed bumps then flat should fine fine as a second choice. There's not as much weight in the screen of an LCD TV as there is in a plasma screen so transporting them flat isn't such an issue if there's no other option.

I have done this in the past by strapping it into the rear seats using the seat belts with the screen facing rearwards with a blanket / duvet covering it.

Surely you can get a box of rough dimensions and pack it out with foam or corn starch pellets?

Wrap it in bubble wrap, surround it with blankets or duvets and don't put anything on top if it.

Never mind, you can buy TVs in the south of France, and you can guarantee they will work there. Some UK ones don't as France is HD only.
