The last week or so of BB2 is my favourite few days of BB ever. I wasn't that keen on Elizabeth but Brian, Helen, Josh and Dean were all great HMs imo.
The paper mache heads I can still visualize now and the date nights were legendary. Can you imagine people like Dean and Josh doing the car crash that is BB these days? Far, far too normal and genuine Season 2 was my favourite although season 3 and 6 are aswel - there was more conflict in those. However it was natural conflict. Channel 5 don't believe in natural interaction and it's the death of the show.

I've watched since BB1.
My O/H got me into it as I thought it was going to be boring at first. Now he doesn't watch at all and I can't stop

Many thanks to everyone who has replied or/and completed the poll, so far.
I think posters have quickly identified that they are now sadly not part of the Channel 5 agenda and the moves by C5 to capture the facebook/twitter users more associated with Towie, GeordieShore, Ex on the Beach etc, is leaving behind the more moderate viewers who were initially attracted to the more purist form of Big Brother run by Channel 4. The fundamental question is of course, are the C4 (early loyal viewers) a different breed of people to those C5 now want to attract? From the poll results where the overwhelming majority of DS users are the same viewers who helped Big Brother become a success for C4 since BB1, these viewers are no longer the ones who are voting week after week and ultimately choosing the series winner. Channel 5 has left us all behind. The interesting question is whether C5 will continue to drive Big Brother down market and seek to attract housemates and Omega Celebrities who will serve up their (scripted?) extremes of behaviour. |

X on the beach and their like, well, aren't exactly true reality tv, dispite calling themselves "reality tv" . Now that's fine, people like the scripted reality shows, but when a show that isn't that tries to copy the formats but does it 100% badly, then they're is a big problem, and it won't end well for that particular show in my view. I joined the first series at the nasty nick notes episode .
How un-nasty would nasty Nick be considered nowadays compared to modern housemates |

Since BB3. I did catch bits and pieces or BB1 and 2 but I was too young to really understand the concept. I remember the red button on BB3 where you could choose which camera to watch on via Live Feed. The whole thing suddenly clicked and I was hooked from then through to the final C4 series.
I had hopes for the C5 series but I immediately detected that the tone had shifted downwards. The hyperbolic narration, the constant name-tagging, the housemates posing between scenes. The whole thing became a caricature of the worst aspects of the later C4 series which could previously be overlooked. It has disappeared further and further down the rabbit hole ever since. |

I don't recall C4 ever doing that.

^It began to creep in during the final series with Josie IIRC but it was very occasional. Again, much easier to overlook it back when live feed was still available (albeit for a fee by that point).

I've been watching since day one, but now I find myself getting pissed off just watching the show, and it just gets worse. Without rules and those rules being enforced it's just pointless.

I barely missed an episode on C4 but I've struggled to warm to it on C5 to the point where I wish they'd never bought it. I can count the number of C5 housemates I've really liked on 1 hand and that's not a good enough hit rate for me to stick with it. I've only seen 3 C5 CBBs - Julian Clary's, Charlotte Crosby's and Jim Davidson's. They'd have to entice someone REALLY special onto the show for me to watch again.
BB15 was the final straw, I didn't even make it to the end of that. These days I can watch it on catch up after the event (much less stressful) but during the run I just lurk on here and follow what you're saying. You're all watching it so I don't have to. Thanks!

watched from the very first
I remember watching BB1 live feed through my desk top, very juddery but riveting even the boring chicken bits were watchable, couple that with radio coverage and I lost my life over that summer much the same with BB2&3, live feed with different angles in different rooms BB could not get away with manipulation then as we saw 99% of what really was happening manipulation started to creep in in BB3 with Jade going into the DR and then comming out a changed woman I have watched the past few Big Brothers but only really dipping in and out I dont really know why they call it BB any more as it is so far from its original form BB had a unique USP which has been lost over the last few years Its scripted, theres far too much outside influence and too much DR content aired BB was supposed to be about ordinary people but its just full of wannabees and -Z listers (I will not call then celebs) We have lost BB to the Towie, Love Island and MIC crowd who love the scripted reality shit we get these days BB died a long time ago and I think the name Big Brother should have died at the same time it now should just be called HOUSE MATES as thats all they are |

What if the production level was better, the housemates were given more tasks and games and producers produced situations that brought out intresting conflicts...would you be intrested in watching it regardless of scripting and lack of live feeds? (a bit like BB US)

Watched it from the very beginning.
Stopped watching both a couple of years ago. Helen Wood, Charlotte Crosby etc....enough was enough for me. If we got back to basics, no outside interference, no blatant manipulation from the Producers & they stopped putting the dregs of society in, I would start watching again. I loved it. |

Clicked on the first option, but technically I started watching properly halfway around series 3, but did catch a few little snippets of series 2 as in Narinder's interview with Davina and also seeing the articles of Penny getting dismissed from her job when her towel slipped and it was caught on the live feed
Was on the C4 forums for series 4 through to the start of series 7, then came over here permanently 2nd week of series 7 My earliest memory of the show was in series 3 when they were allowed to make as much noise as possible in the garden and were generally mucking about, and when Jade was going on and on in a drunken state ad nauseam when she thought she had a verruca, and Adele vacating the room stating she would punch Jade if Jade didn't button it It was back in those days when housemates actually had respect for BB, not constantly telling them to eff off as they do these days. Punishments actually meant something and sunk in, unlike these ridiculous hot water off for 5 seconds punishments which are scoffed at. Housemates have no respect for BB nowadays as BB constanly breaks the rules of it's own show, taken away the privacy of the Diary Room, constantly feeding them outside information hoping it will kick off for a few cheap ratings....The list is endless And the worst thing is the housemates always fall for it every single year, knowing that is exactly what BB want these days If you are nice and polite you get tagged as 'boring', but are universally loved by Willis and Toofy if you constantly argue, are really horrible or in a showmance Or in the case of last year, nice and polite meant being booted out and replaced Tasks back then actually meant something, and not these childish easy ones nowadays where they barely have to do anything except bitch about each other, or just sit on their rear ends eating or drinking something horrible or get gunged Admittedly overnight tasks are not really practical as there is no live feed apart from the 30-60 minutes they spoon feed us, but it would be nice to see more endurance based, or tasks where they are actually pushed to the limit and really have to work for their food by themselves and not all this 'pass or fail at BB's discretion' nonsense |
