streaming home TV to mobile away from home

Hi all,

My Belkin @TV Plus box that worked so well for several years has given up the ghost, it just shows a flashing red light with a faint buzz noise and reset etc. doesn't seem to make any difference. I thought it might have been the power supply but that's giving a fairly steady 9v output so now thinking I'd get another as it turns out the service was turned off in March this year anyway and it's end of life.
I'm looking at maybe a Slingbox but wondered if anyone could offer any suggestions please. Ideally I'm not looking to spend a fortune, if I could grab something say from eBay for under £50 that would be good.

Perhaps you could give us a bit more information on what exactly you want to watch and what device you will be watching it from?

As far as I'm aware a slingbox you hook up to you TV at home then use a laptop or tablet to watch the stuff from your TV at home via it. Is it live TV and stuff you have recorded you are wanting to watch?

If your using a tablet or laptop why not give Kodi (and the appropriate add-on's) a try. This is great way to watch on-demand movies and tv shows. Could probably watch live TV as well with the certain add-ons installed. This free, probably not not legal, but free.

Anyways if you could give us a bit more information that would help us suggest sometime.

Thanks dont_be_hasty, I basically liked the features I had with my TV plus I had before which is mainly the ability to watch using an app on my phone (Android).
With that I was able to stream whatever was showing on my Virgin Media Tivo box at the time and use the on screen remote to change the channel using the IR senders at the front of the tivo. If it performs extra features of course that would be good but that's my main use, maybe also the ability to watch in a web browser if possible.
Kodi is a good thought, not had much dealings with that, I considered if using a Raspberry Pi for the purpose or an Android TV box might work.
My inclinations at the moment are towards a Slingbox HD Pro.
