Mobile phone battery life
countyboy

I am shortly to change my HTC mobile. I tend to go for sim free phones, as my experience has been that many batteries need more and more charging after about 18 months, so I resist 24 month contracts with a phone thrown in, preferring a sim only contract with EE.

I was thinking of going back to a Samsung, but a friend has had his A3 for only 12 months, and he is already unhappy with his need to charge it more frequently (and he is not a heavy user).

So my question is...what mobiles/models have a longer battery life? My budget will be up to £250.

Thanks muchly.

You should also be looking at phones which have user replaceable batteries.

It depends how much you'll use it. But batteries on most maybe even all phones are pretty crap. The one thing that doesn't seem to have moved forward at all. If i use my mine a lot it will be flat within a few hours. Sometimes i can charge it up early in the morning and barely use it and its almost flat by the end of the day.

The person who makes an exponential jump in battery life will not have to work again

Which are getting ever fewer.

I think only LG currently offer this on their flagship?

I'm the same, I've bought a moto g4 for £169 so I cant replace it after 12 months. The battery life is amazing compared to my galaxy s5. It supports quick charging though so im a bit sceptical about its longevity in the long run.

The Samsung J5 has a removable battery.

I have had a J5 since January and so far it has had great battery life and it also charges pretty quickly for me.

J5 isn't a flagship though.

The OP didn't ask about a flagship phone.

I see the new Note 7 has a non-removable battery. Presumably the price of making it waterproof.

The Note5 didn't have one either...

If the LG G4 is cheap enough, you could get that - as that has a user replaceable battery.

Most phone manufacturers have tended to go for sealed batteries though, which isn't great if you need to replace the battery after it losing a lot of its capacity after a while.
I'm sure my S4 could do with a new battery, as I can't seem to make it last now... (it has had 2 years of use though!).

To be fair they didn't, I didn't read the OP properly...

The J5 is probably a decent recommendation actually.

I have one gathering dust. I'd be happy to send it for free if you pm me your address.
