Just have to rant !!

Been watching BB since the beginning of time, and can hardly recognise it anymore. I no longer watch it 'live', I record everything. That way, I can fast forward through the increasing amount of rubbish that the producers put out in the name of entertainment. Where do they get these people? And I don't mean the wannabee housemates, I mean the production staff - there must be a whole bunch of them farting, belching and getting their bits out round the Boardroom Table, thinking that the viewing public are as moronic as them. They should be ashamed of what they have done to what was a ground breaking show many years ago. I couldn't even watch Bear's exit from the house - deleted everything after Ricky's interview. And as for BBBOTS - well where do they dig 'em all up from. I actually like Rylan and think he's pretty talented, but he's so up his own (and Emma's) backside on this non-entity of a programme - you're presenters f f s - not the King and Queen of BB.

So will I watch in future? Yes, probably, but no longer with excitement that a new series is about to start, I'll more likely watch with trepidation and the hope that someone with brains has taken over the Channel 5 Production Team, shot the lot of 'em and begun the long road back to producing something worth watching.

Rant over.

Weren't you put off by all the reality stars in January's season? The producers aren't likely to buck the reality trend and go back to featuring English eccentrics drinking tea. They even adjusted the civilian BB requirements so they could accommodate more reality TV people.

Viewing figures are up and everyone concerned is delighted with how much media attention this series has attracted, so it's extremely unlikely they'll change tack now.

me and the wife used to love BB but sadly it is so manipulated now in favour of the most outrageous housemates that we shall not be tuning in again
they should of called this
'Running with bear in the BB house'
3/4 of every episode was dominated by him and his childish antics

is was unwatchable to viewers who have a few brain cells

Really? I have more than just a few brain cells and I enjoyed every episode.

Its all about the rows and wind ups now. It's not the same show as it used to be but its still quite interesting to watch.

Really? Well I suppose, if you find a show that focuses on one unpleasant individual tormenting others entertaining, you would have enjoyed it.

We certainly didn't - we used to enjoy the show and there are more than a few brain cells chez Behaviour (BA & PhD)

Being intrigued to watch it doesn't equate to approving of bad behaviour. Sometimes people watch to see how other HMs deal with the bad behaviour. Funnily enough the men were subdued by the bullying while the women took a stand against it.
It was an interesting dynamic but a shame the bully won.

Ie channel 4 days there were plenty of rows. There were people who would argue with most of the house (John james) and people who thrived on drama (Nikki). There were massive arguments and even fight night. I loved how everything could be fine one minute then people shouting and screaming. It all died down again and back to normal. Now, though, people are in there and given the job of causing arguments. We now this is prearranged. It was obvious with Marc and obvious with bear. They have been told to wind everybody up we much as possible. This is putting these people in the forefront of every episode. Unfair to everybody else.

There have always been the "sexy ladies" too. Beautiful women who wore bikinis or went topless when they sunbathef.Good looking men too. Some nudity which was always taken as fun. We liked to laugh when someone got their bum out. Channel 5 have made it all seedy. Great plastic boobs bouncing in every scene. Sex all over the house. It's all too blatant and in your face. Not too mention boring. We all know there are no real relationships. Just people willing to get their clothes off and have sex on TV.

Its such a shame that groundbreaking TV has become such a sorry mess. Emma and Rylan do their best but they must be embarrassed at what they are having to deal with my and the absolute morons they are trying to have interesting interviews with.

I don't think it will get better. Channel 5 have the audience they want and a seemingly endless supply of fools with nothing to say but willing to sell themselves on shows like this.

It's not their fault that Bear was the only one who wasn't boring. I don't know what you would have liked to have seen instead? Aubrey applying her make-up for 6 hours? Frankie camping it up and trying to be entertaining? Ricky, Katie and Sam were wallpaper throughout apart from when Heavy D made Katie have a meltdown and when Bear made Ricky and Sam lose their temper (Bear creating entertainment again). As for Renee almost all her storylines involved Bear and was only memorable for shouting at him because she constantly let him get to her. These people weren't strong enough characters on their own to make for an entertaining tv show and all I can say is thank God Bear was there or I probably would have switched off long ago.

Natural interactions and non manufactured arguments. .

Bear wasn't entertaining in the slightest. He did the same boring rubbish every day.

James and Ricky's long and intelligent conversations? Would have been nice to have something interesting to debate on here.

I met my husband through a BB forum, just like this one, way back in 2001 when BB used to be great!

I still watch in the hope that it will improve but he gave up years ago. It's a shame they ruined it.

I struggle to understand how anyone who loved and watched BB from the start, would be happy with what we've just seen - the only resemblance it bears (excuse pun) to the original is it's name.

The beginning of the end was probably the removal of 24/7 LF, closely followed by making DR entries and nominations public.

The former means we rely too heavily on the edited HLs and the latter has led to BB only attracting a certain type of HM.

So true. Viewing it's gradual deterioration has been eye-opening, just to see how far the producers will go to see how much they can make mugs out of the audience. It's kept me beguiled.

I could maybe be persuaded that there could have been a good series without Bear but only in the first couple weeks. When the likes of Biggins, Siara and Heavy D were still there. Biggins was funny and Siara and Heavy D would have ruffled more feathers. As soon as Heavy D was evicted and if Bear wasn't there it would have been beyond dull with the characters that were left. The Marnie and Lewis showmance would have been forced down our throats but really what else? And when Lewis was evicted watching the insects in the garden would have probably been more interesting than watching those left.

Well, we'll never know now will we. I got the impression (particularly with Ricky) that many of the hms were worn down by it all and were just trying to cope with the continual bombardment. Stress. It's difficult to be fun and have a laugh or be interesting when you're stressed.

You have a point - previously we had the voyeurism - shared to a degree with the BB makers - of watching car crash Celebs and Zelebs coping with what was thrown at them.
Now the show itself is the car crash with mainly nonentities as the wallpaper and extras.

For me Stephen Bear was tedious in the extreme and yes I would have preferred all the other stuff...............Us old school viewers used to tune in to watch housemates sleeping and chickens feeding, or was it the the other way round?! Anyhows it was what it was supposed to be - just people (or chicken) watching which can be boring but at least it was honest and not this staged and scripted drivel it's now turned into!

How is bear repeating the same tedious antics day in day out not boring?

Repetition is not entertaining

Only by a very very small amount, and that's unlikely to last. I think while the civilian series this year was enjoyable (all though i'm still trying to figure out whether that was because it was actually decent, or so badly put together that it was good) I don't think it's enough to sustain this version of bb long term. Even the earlier zelebrity series this year was okay. But by the sounds of things the zelebrity series just gone was complete car crash altogether.

Oh i'm sure that is the case. But they will never be able to compete with the other reality tv shows who do scripted reality better then c5bb ever could. If they actually bothered to get a good cast together they could simply leave the show to operate on it's own, that is how bb is supposed to operate. Natural dynamics, natural conflict. C5bb will never be the other reality tv shows, it will never be able to do scripted reality properly, it will never be good enough to be a credible scripted reality tv show.
