Was getting 52 Mbps now seems to have been reduced, these are the settings on my Home hub, before the price increase, was getting 37Mbps, so looks like i am paying extra for a increase of 4Mbps

Try switching off your router for at least 16 minutes so the DLM doesn't interfere with anything then reconnect and report back your new stats.

Thunderstorms is some areas have caused a few problems.

That could be your problem as the DLM will possibly make adjustments to your connection in the belief that there a stability problem on your line.

Do you know the ip profile of your line at the moment? From a PC, try http://speedtest.btwholesale.com then click the "further diagnostics" button and it will tell you the ip profile.

There are all sorts of factors that can make the broadband speed vary over time. If you are using WiFi to do the speedtest then use a cable connection to eliminate any issues with WiFi interference.

Another issue is sharing the bandwidth at the exchange with other users. Depending on the number of BT customers and the amount of bandwidth BT have going into the exchange you can get variations in speed depending on how many are online and what they are doing. You won't usually get a guaranteed, exclusive to you, 52Mb connection all the way to the BT servers and beyond. So you should always do a number of tests at different times of day to get a feel for how it varies.

If you notice a change in the pattern then you have to try and determine why. First thing to do would be to eliminate any internal extension wiring you have. If you have a NTE5 type master with the two part faceplate then remove the lower section. If it is the type with two sockets, one for phone and one for the hub /modem then you just leave the hub/modem plugged in as normal. If you have a "self install" version with plug in filters plug the filter into the test socket revealed by removing the faceplate.

This will isolate your internal wiring so if the speed jumps up it is down to something in your home. If it stays the same then it is most likely external to your home.

Your router and the kit at the exchange will try and establish the best speed possible (in theory) so any line noise or whatever can cause them to negotiate a lower rate. Usually any noise on the line should be audible on the phone. You can try calling 17070 which is the BT test number. Select option 2 the quiet line test and listen carefully for any noise that might indicate a line issue affecting your broadband.

The thing to do is perform a number of tests over the next few days and see what happens. Then depending on what results you get you can make a decision as to whether it's worth complaining to BT or not.

To avoid upsetting DLM, if you want to turn the router off you should wait 30 minutes before turning it back on. Less than that is not enough.

At a guess it looks like DLM has put interleaving on the line. This usually knocks at least 10% sync speed off your line. In your case it looks like its done a little more than that.

As to why interleaving as been applied. Either its you turning the router on and off a few times. Or if it was like that before then it could just be that your line is more noisy and DLM is trying to protect your connection by lowering the speed. The faster the speed, and the longer the line, its more susceptable to noise.

If you recently went up in speed package to the upto 52Mb package, I *think* they do an DLM reset on the line, which means no line management is applied. It's possible your line can't handle 52Mb's and so DLM as lowered the speed for stability reasons.

I'd leave it a couple of weeks without touching the router and see if DLM re-sync's the line on its own.

If it doesn't after a while then I'd either get more experts to look at the full stats of your line (I can give you a good place were some more experienced users hang out if you drop me a pm), or it might just be the max your line can cope with.
