I don't think so. The OP is merely stating that Bear's win was a triumph of white privilege. If a person of colour had behaved in the way that Bear did, they would have been removed quite early in the process. I don't believe this can be denied,

Ricky was my winner - a thoroughly decent young man and a fine role model.
I agree with this

Bear wouldn't have won if he was black.

I think the inconvenient truth for many people with agendas is that prejudice and privilege, which certainly exist in our society, nevertheless don't work in the nice, simple way they would like to promote. It's far more nuanced than that.

Bear, for example, may have been one of those 'white, working class' boys who evidently suffer prejudice in our education system. In that context, even if 'white' WUMs are in a privileged position on Celebrity Big Brother I can't get too excited about it. The reality for all of us is a mixture of prejudice and privilege though not always in equal amounts.

Who are those with agendas? I'll never get why it's seen as a bad thing to point out the prejudice does still exist.

Unfortunately many people tend to highlight or ignore examples of prejudice or privilege according to an agenda.

Politicians do it all the time. It's otherwise known as telling lies.

Agree with all your post and I too wanted Ricky to win. A good example to the youth of today, I think.

For those who think this thread is daft, racism is alive and kicking.

Would he have won if he was an actual bear?
He was certainly Grizzly.

I'd forgotten her. Although they did seem to be great chums before she left.
She did a complete U-turn and brown nosed him in an attempt to save herself, I think.

Or be considered as entertaining?
If he was Muslim he'd have been accused of being a terrorist.
If it was America and he was black the popo would have gone in and shot him.
BB audience show, yet again, you can get away with anything as a white man.
Salty post.

Chums is a bit strong. She saw him as a project for change - she failed.

All Bear's win shows is the demographic of voters. It is not a statement about society in general, it is just about the audience that C5 have targeted, White Chavs.

Therefore the Bear character resonates with the intended audience.

If BB was on a different channel and targeted a different audience then the results would be different.
BBC BB - Educated, nice housemate winner
Bravo BB - Busty, ditzy bombshell winner.
C5 BB - White chav winner.
SciFi channel BB - Geeky/nerd, quirky winner.
Etc.
