Caitlyn does seem to be a bit too shouty for my tastes, not as shouty as Louisa so there's hope for her that I can tolerate her presence on the show, but unless she dramatically improves to a style that I like then I don't think that I'll be supporting her unless there was a bunch of Swing singers on the show.

She's obviously a good singer. I didn't care for her performance though. If you watch Kelly Clarkson's performance of that, I think it's safe to assume that Caitlyn definitely has watched it. Numerous times, I'd imagine.

I agree with this thread. I disliked Louisa, not my type at all. She was oversinging all the time.. Caitlyn is actually pure as an artist and didn't oversing any part of her audition imo

ITA. She has a good voice, but her entire audition was mimicry.

Her background story is that she has the best, most supportive family ever. Then she sings a song about having an awful, neglectful father? Better to choose a different Kelly Clarkson song.

And the break in her voice? Kelly broke down because she was singing live, while pregnant, during an episode of the last season of American Idol. The extreme emotion made sense. With Caitlyn, it took me out of the performance.

If this girl wants to get far, she will need to put her own emotions into the songs she performs.
