It's a mystery to me so all ideas welcome. Thank you.

Because the vote against him was split

Because people who REALLY didn't want him to win, didn't vote (like me)

Because he had a following of enough people who don't understanding that "playing the game" & "having a laugh" shouldn't be at the constant expense of someone else

Because people who liked him have the attention span of an immature flea & would think that anything approaching a mature conversation is "boring"

Because it was very, very close & may have been down to just a handful of votes & viewers who support him are more likely to vote multiple times, partly because they may have more disposable income, being generally younger & still living with parents.

Because people sometimes make very odd choices (remember "Scootch" winning the Eurovision entry slot?)

Because we didn't see half of the nasty things he said or did on the HLs programme

Because we didn't see 99% of anything remotely interesting, amusing or entertaining that the other HMs did.

Because some people would not want an Americam to win at any cost.

Because .. the final 2 vote was him verus Reluctant Ricky

Because of his domination of the show and the anti Bear feeling this generated. People started seeing him as got at, misunderstood, a victim if you like.

Because a lot of those who felt they were morally superior to Bear also felt that voting in any capacity was also beneath them - this will account for many on this forum.

How many times did you vote for Ricky, OP?

It is a mystery. If he was black he wouldnt have won, for sure.

Some good points in there.

But I REALLY wanted him to win and didn't vote, I would say that reason is more a 50 50 split.

To be fair most of them come across from someone who is bitter and angry that he won.

Marnie being evicted in 4th place rather than 3rd may have helped

That could have given her fans time to bung enough votes Bear's way to make a difference

Hi. The last time I voted was for Gary Busey and I don't actually recall the time before that!

I've been watching reluctantly for a while and will not be watching again.

Apart from "I'm A Celebrity...." I've never watched any other reality show.

I loved this show and went to lots of live evictions back in the day but I think I'm maybe too old to be able to enjoy this new format.

It's not because you are too old.

It really has changed a hell of a lot.

Even if Ricky had picked up a few more votes himself and finished up winning as a result, Bear would still have got more votes than anyone could be happy with.

Because the producers gave him 99% of the air time, and the others got very little. Unfortunatley it will send the wrong messages to future contestants. Behave like bear spoil BB for all the other housemates and the public then you will be the winner

There was a thread earlier wondering if Bear would have got away with what he did if he had not been white, but like many such threads it was prematurely closed, so i thought in the spirit of free speech i would give my opinion here.

I think you're right. My big regret is that thanks to him and the editing I kinda got turned off Sam Fox who I thought was a nice person.

He would have been either removed from the house or evicted. No way on earth would he have won.

BB may be many things but racist is not one of them. Since the Jade/
Shilpa scenario, they are hyper sensitive, as seen when they evicted Emily for saying nigg*.

Had Bear been black, his treatment would have been exactly the same or more lenient. There is no evidence anywhere in the show's history to indicate otherwise.

Hi. Like you I'm thinking he was the chosen one from the off and short of actually killing one of his housemates he was the winner! x
