I remember really liking one of her songs 'Make it Through the Night a few years back which was on her first album Big Trouble - Lots of Fun. Her second album was I'll Live which I also have. What a shock to see her on X-Factor and the sad story of her child as I'd completely forgotten about her.

I felt uncomfortable at the mention of her son who died. There's something distasteful about tast being used to get through thr audition imo.

I agree with all of what you said.

Good initial song choice from her though as I really like Take Me To Church.

I think they could have made things much easier for her if they had just let her come on and sing the song rather than having to tell everyone her life story which was obviously upsetting for her. Not great.

It was really upsetting but she didn't need that backstory she was quite good!!

Even though my predictive text was a disaster?

I love Hosier too

Yes, it's almost as if that particular singer is getting a bit of an unfair advantage over other singers who perform without the tragic back story. I suppose the producers think a lot of people enjoy that aspect of X Factor. There was no mention of her past career as a professional singer with two albums to her credit.

Haha, I agree with you that the sob story was in poor taste.

And here's hoping that we get a good version of Take Me To Church at the lives.

I'd love if they asked hosier to perform during the lives but he probably wouldn't

There was a mention of her past career and then being dropped. They didn't go into detail about the albums.

I agree she shouldn't have used her baby's death to get through. The producers wouldn't have known unless she'd volunteered that information

They'd have him duet with Leona on Run I'd bet.

Yes, it would be difficult to hear about the terrible times she's been having and then not put her through.

I expect that all of the contestants that are shown give their life story to the producers before anyway.

Her version of 'take me to church' was utterly ghastly, but 'the arms of the angels' was ok,

Not a fan of her or her voice. But she will probably be in the live shows. At the judges houses for sure.

She must have had a rough few years; she looks 6-7 years older than she is.

I remember her from her single You Think You Got The Right.

It's Hozier!

Hated the whole thing. If I was on the judging panel, I would have put her through out of guilt, but didn't think she was good.

Isn't it amazing how all the judges except Nicole didn't recognise her even thought she auditioned in front of them in X Factor 2007, getting as far as the Judges House stage with Louis as her mentor...

She has a strong pop voice, but Church sounded forced /strained , and , though her tone is lovely, she was flat through about 1/3 of Angel.

What sort of person uses their dead son to use as a sob story to further their career. Just like the guy with the dead brother on Saturday, it disgusts me.

All looked far too much of a set-up for me especially when you have the old "can you try another song" and suddenly it's all change.

That

What a moronic thing to say. The producers will have wanted her to tell her back story as they do with many of the acts. It is all part of the show unfortunately.

Leona Lewis brother died shortly before she was on the show and she did not use it or tell tje producers. Nobody could ever force you to reveal that kind of information

But the producers would much rather have a contestant that has had a tragic life story to tell on the show rather than someone who has had a happy life because that makes more headlines for the show. It has always been that way unfortunately.
