Coronation street- what was your favourite year?

There's one for EastEnders so I thought I'd do one for coronation street

What was your favourite yr of coronation street?

Mine was 2013

I thought mainly the whole year was mint, I don't think there were any episodes in 2013 I didn't really enjoy! Tho I didn't really like the rovers fire that much or Tina surrogacy story, that bored me but they still weren't that bad. It was all about the Platts that yr, which is probably what made it such a good yr!

2013 was the yr of Nick and David's car crash and Lilys christening where Kylie exposed what David did to Nick. There was also Karl turning into an evil bastard, Hayley doing her bucket list, Faye bullying Simon, and Nick suffering his brain damage. I HATED Peter and Tina's affair tho

I also enjoyed Corrie last yr (2015) I'm probably in the minority but I liked the Callum/Platt storyline and thought Callum was quite a good baddie

2004 was a great year.

The most recent good period for me was late 12 early 13, the Ty/Kirsty storyline was the last I was gripped. The end of Collinson's era as well, who I think was a great producer.

Agree. I'd even go as far to say 2005 wasn't bad until that shambles of a summer.

For me the best years of corrie would be 2003-2005 then 2007-2008 then 2010-2013

2005 started off on the same level of 2004 but ended abruptly with Katy Harris's death in April. Everything after that was abysmal.

I am genuinely interested to know why you picked this year?

Bets big explosive original exit was the main reason. I remember loving everything about it. It really stuck in my childhood memory.

Ah yes, good point. I was struggling to think of anything that really stuck out from 1995 but that completely slipped my mind!

2003/2004 were really great years for Coronation Street, because that was the era the show really picked itself up after a bit of a slump in the early 00's and started telling some really gripping stories again, whilst mixing the old with the new, which really helped take the show into the 21st century, but it always kept the old school Corrie feel.

It all went a bit downhill in 2005, and I found the late 00's incredibly gloomy and dull. It probably didn't help EastEnders was going through a really successful period back then after ironically doing badly in the years Corrie was doing really well.

When Phil Collinson came in as Producer, he really helped pick things up again in 2010. In fairness though, it had been getting better since the beginning of that year, but by around August, CS was unmissable TV again, and it stayed that way until the 50th anniversary. I really didn't think much of 2011, and 2012 was 50:50 really. It started off great, and ended great, but the middle was again really dull.

I completely agree with you on 2013 however. It was a really good year for the show and I just don't understand the hate it gets on here. It wasn't as good as 2003/2004, but there were some fab stories, and there were a lot of great characters back then who have sadly left since. It was the last year the show was any good really. The Ty/Kirsty storyline was gripping, and it was also the year one of my favourite episodes of all time regarding a soap aired: The one where Hayley and Roy visited Blackpool and danced to Close To You. Stunning writing!

I thought 2006 was a great year, especially with the ongoing Baldwin feud storyline. Mike Baldwin's battle with alzihmers which lead to his death and Leanne/Danny manipulating Mike for his inheritance and then Leanne conning Danny for 50k which lead to her temporary exit. Excluding Jamie and Frankie relationship, I thought it was a fantastic storyline, the acting and writing was nothing short of exceptional.

There was also the arrival of the Connors and Becky, David pretending to be Richard, Claire's post natal depression.

The only thing I did not like was Tracy/Charlie relationship..

Pretty much al the 00s but picked 08 for the whole Liam/Maria/Tony/Carla saga which continued througout 09 too, trouble with 09 was it was also the year of Molvin & that horribly dire wedding of Steve & Becky!!
Loved 04/05/06 too when Leanne was at her best & all through early 00s, some great storylines!!

I couldn't possibly choose between 1962-4, 1975-8, 1989-91, 1998 and 2002-4.

What's the point in listing every year anyway?

Uh....maybe cos the question asked you what your fav yr was?

Some ppl do probably watch 60s eps, but I'm not one of em

I'm one of these viewers that isn't interested in the history of the show (probably cos I'm so young, I'm 19) and I don't wanna learn about the "good old days" as some ppl call them, so I would never watch 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s or 00s eps, ok maybe episode 1 just to see how much it's changed, but I bet I wouldn't like it

I wouldn't wanna watch Coro in black and white or from like a decade ago. I would only watch coronation street eps from maybe 2010- present, just 21st century stuff

Hard to pick a single year, loved it all from the late 90s to 2005.

It seems pointless as Corrie has been running so long and most people won't have seen the early years, a vote by decade would be better.

I find the 60's, 70's and 80's eps rather boring, and I am 17. I'd recommend watching some episodes from the late 90's and 00's though, as they are great. You have to remember that the early/vintage days of Corrie will always mean a lot to a lot of forum users, as they are the years where Corrie was at its peak, and featured it's most iconic characters, such as Bet Lynch and Hilda Ogden.

Does 2013 get a lot of hate on here?!

Omg! 2013 was a great yr! Why is it so unpopular on here?

As I said I also enjoyed 2015 (well from June onwards at least)
