Hopefully this will be the start of Phil and Grant bonding again and Jay being welcomed back into the family.

I hope not, just as Jay is becoming interesting, the last thing we need is for him to go back to the Mitchells and his drug problems disappear overnight.

However it would be pretty typical actually for this to happen. I already got the feeling from Friday after his scene with Honey that it was the beginning of a turning point.
I knew his storyline would only last a few weeks, just like it did with Star. For me he'd be better off leaving because he's wasted on this show. He's always going to be background character like Billy.

Let's hope they can redeem Grant because his return so far has been woeful..

I hope Jay doesn't go back to Phil's... he's invisible when he's living there.

Jay needs to be away fron Phil's unit. He and Ben should get a flat for themselves. Tbh tbe older mitchell generatiors are dull, boring and vile and I would 't miss then. Louise is bearable in family scenes but with Bex...I can't stand her.

I still say that Phil should hand the Arches over to Ben and he could take Jay on as a partner. That way they could afford to rent.

Both Phil and Ian worked there way up, they weren't given hand outs and it would be nice if a couple of the current youngsters were as ambitious as they were,

Both Ian and Phil and have got back on their feet when broke by stealing and cheating. Ronnie got back on her feet by stealing. Sharon inherited money to get her started. Janine inherited her money. I see no harm in a sick man handing over one of his businesses to his son. Peggy gave him the Vic after all. It's what happens in some families. It's not as if the two lads haven't been working their socks off for him.

Phil would never do that. For him its all about control over people, even his own family. By owning the businesses he controls people and they have to answer to him. Also Phil uses them as a cover for his criminal dealings when it suits. Take that away and Phil doesn't have much of a purpose in the show.

Fair enough. I don't actually care how they do it but we need to see the next generation become their own people. Phil is a dusty old dinosaur and they need to get away from that stifling atmosphere.

Good to see the tragic story of Paul's murder isn't spiralling off into ridiculous directions. I wonder if there'll be any car crashes or explosions.

Phil and grant are involved so there's a very good chance.

Indeed. I'm getting really tired of monthly Mitchell 'disasters'.

Its been terribly handled. This could have been a strong story about a hate crime leading to a killing yet its been all done for the Mitchells. It started all about Phil and Ian believing Ben had been killed for shock sensationalism.

Then it led to a little bit of Johnny with Ben so we had a little Carter involvement thrown in for good measure.

Then of course its all been about getting Ben and Jay together but of course its more complicated because of Jays drug problem, involving yet more Mitchells, you know the ones that don't have anything to do with him normally but as Billy and Honey don't have much happening it conveniently lands them in trouble with social services because who else would take in a drug dealer with kids around! And Honey is that naïve that she didn't think that telling the police about Jay would land themselves in trouble, no shes another that doesn't have a braincell.

Now because they want Ben and Jay to be a mini Phil and Grant, leaving it to the police isn't enough, no they've got to get revenge because that is really in keeping with how Ben and Jay are! Two young lads who wouldn't know how to handle themselves in a fight at the best of times but they are going against 4 lads who have just killed someone and probably thought nothing of it, I mean what could possibly go wrong! I'm sure the director will have them doing a few more hugs and cuddles this week though, you know in a purely bruvverly way.

Just to add a little more sensationalism lets have ben and jay kidnapped and Phil collapsing just when they need him most, but who's this, Grant just happens to be coming back to save the day, no doubt on his own! I mean who writes this shit.

An excellent post and my thoughts exactly - I could do without Philth and the Incredible Grunt suddenly being aging super-thugs yet again.

Leave that to someone who knows what he is doing like Jason Statham.

Oh and why has Jay and Ben suddenly started calling each other 'bruv' all the bloody time?

TPTB are so transparent it's pathetic.

I think Grant will save Jay and Ben but then die a hero allowing Phil to finally get a new liver!
