So I'm having a clear out. I honestly didn't realise how much stored unopened booze I
Had stashed away until now. Mainly whisky and vodka. All good well known labels.

I don't drink anymore

Question is, what do I do with it? It's all been stored in the dark. All unopened. But most easily 20 years old. Smirnoff 65% red label etc.

Is there such a place as we buy any booze dot com? Lol.
It seems a hell if a waste pouring it away.

An ad in your local paper will see it gone in no time.

Surely you can at least save it for Christmas presents?

Failing that, donate it to your local food bank

Surely you're not the first person with this conundrum. It wouldn't hurt to contact a high end bottle shop. Maybe they have a 'buy back' program for top shelf brands. Or an auction house? How else would those wine and whiskey enthusiasts add to their collections?

Give the bottles to beggars on the street. They'll think Christmas has come early.

Really? I didn't think they could accept booze.
To be honest I am concerned about the possibility that the booze might not be fit to drink. Some of the spirits are 1987 if not earlier. All are over 20 yrs old. Wouldn't want to be responsible for any ill health.

I've since found out voddy has great cleaning uses around the house

If they're unopened then they should be fine especially whisky, the alcohol content alone will preserve it for quite some time.

My wife wouldn't be without it on cleaning days.
She's often found sat on her arse next to the washing machine draining a bottle and singing.

Contact your local auction house as Maggie said above, i have seen alcohol plenty of times at auctions so they must be able to sell it.

Depends what it is surely? Is there a market for old bottles of Smirnoff?

Some people will drink it, sure. But to broaden the scope of possibilities, set decorators attend auctions to find period appropriate props. They may drink the booze and refill the bottles with coloured water.

Think of it this way, if you can recoup some cash off your clear out, why not?

Don't tip whisky down the sink!! Aged whiskey bottles are (potentially) worth a fortune. pm me with the brands of whisky you have and your (rough) location.

I was just going to say that. I work in TV and you'd be amazed how much a set dresser will pay for the right prop, especially if it's a period one. I know someone who got £900 for a Ferguson videostar, because it was what was specified in the script and they needed it in the production.

OP ... Don't throw it away, give it away. Someone will want to drink it even if you don't or can't

I don't normally drink it but I'm willing to make the effort. Not with the whiskey though – nothing would persuade me to drink that.

Thanks for your replies folks.
I have about 10 bottles of Smirnoff red label and blue label. (Blue no longer in production i think). And 1 bottle of Russian 95&% proof. Voddy.
2 Harvey's cream
3 croft original
3 whisky don't know make have to unpack again to check.
Some wines.
All sealed. All stored in dark.

Another possibility ... buy some cases of beer and/or cider from your local supermarket, and with those
bottles of spirits, you could have a party. Or save them all for Christmas, and have a party then instead!

Use it soak dried fruits, big ones like dates or plums or figs and then either cook them in cakes or eat with cream.
