Hello to everyone here in the soaps forum.

I have some very happy childhood memories of watching Emmerdale with my now-deceased granddad back in the early 2000s when I was really into the programme (I stopped watching altogether in about 2009).

I would really like to talk about Emmerdale from back in these days, and so if anyone would like to join me in talking about which storylines and which characters you liked and/or disliked during this era then that would be awesome.

Until recently there were quite a lot of 2001/2002 episodes I was enjoying on YouTube, but these have recently been removed sadly.

I guess the storyline that really gripped me at the time was the one with the brat-pack (Andy/Robert/Eve/Donna/Marc & co.) who killed their headteacher Miss Strickland in the hit-and-run. I was about the same age of these characters and so I could only imagine myself and how I might have felt if I was in their shoes. I found it a bit scary, which is silly looking back now.

I really hope this thread gets some replies and a good discussion going.

I really liked this period of the programme, although it could get a bit crazy at times. Am I correct in thinking that Kathy Tate was run over by Kim Tate then a just a few weeks later was almost paralyzed in the lorry crash which killed Butch?

I don't remember anything involving Kim but I'm fairly sure Kathy wasn't in the Butch accident, unless she was a passenger on the bus.

I remember the storyline when Marlon and Donna won a competition in the mid 2000's and the prize was a house on the Kings River Estate.

On the day of the grand opening there was a huge explosion, caused by a gas leak, which killed three people, one of which was Bob Hope's daughter Dawn Woods, who later died from her injuries.
