The guy who played Kirin in Emmerdale. He looked so ridiculous in his school uniform.

Simon Barlow in Corrie. It distracts me because we know his Dad is Peter and his Mom was Lucy the very fair and pale white florist...how on earth did their son turn out mixed race?

Leah wasn't even on the show 17 years ago. Like I said ridiculous. And Matt Little can no more pass for 17 than he could 13.

Got to agree with you on this. Whether he is mixed race or not isn't really relevant to me, it's the fact that he has zero resemblance to Peter or Lucy that bugs me. I know some children don't look anything like their parents, but Simon is a push too far.

It's a shame because one of the best things about Chris Gascoyne's casting as Peter was that he has a strong resemblance to Ken as well as some elements of Val. I know this sounds extreme but I can see both characters in Peter.

I see nothing in Simon.

Simon's recast needs to be done SOON. They did it with Nick(y) - and Warren Jackson was there from practically the womb!

She doesn't look it I agree but Gillian Kearney is actually 44 but still only twelve years older than Anthony Quinlan (Pete).

I agree with the post about Sue Johnston in Corrie, though not for Sue's acting abilities, Gloria was just a horrific character imo, with the writers trying too hard to create another Blanche/Sylvia type matriarch but in fact they ended up producing someone who wasn't remotely likeable.

Bethany, although I like her, in Corrie. It's hard to believe she's Sarah's daughter. But then again Sarah looks younger than her true age of 29.

Bridget Parker in Neighbours - the character was over-exposed but the actress was just terrible. Remember "Oh. No. Poor. Libby."

I don't get how some ppl think Simon Barlow is miscast as Peter's son

Ok yeah he does look a bit mixed race, but come on, Peter Barlow's not exactly white is he?

Chris Gascoyne has a very dark complexion, he looks Greek or Carribean to me. I dunno where Simons curls come from tho. Sure, he doesn't look like Peter at all but at least Alex Bain has the same complexion (and dark hair and eyes)

What confuses me is how Bowlhead Max has blue eyes and blonde hair yet Callum has black hair and green eyes (or blue?) and Kylie has dark brown hair and brown eyes

That's the family casting that confuses me

I agree that a few siblings don't look alike, but the vast majority do. Steve and Andy don't even look related, let alone TWINS! It's one thing not looking much alike as siblings, but twins??? even fraternal ones...(ones that are not identical) look very alike usually.

LOL, that's nuts I agree! And also Sarah and Bethany. (Corrie.) Sarah literally looks 5 years old than Bethany. Bonkers. It's like Will and his mother in The Inbetweeners; he looks older than SHE does!

Hmmm,I think Shayne ward is OK, but I wouldn't care if he left tomorrow, and he can take that irritating sister with him too. And the dad.

Danny Young as Warren Baldwin was wooden and was chosen just for his looks. When he came back for I think Mike Baldwins funeral he was shocking

When Ryan Connor was recast he looked like Michelle Connors boyfriend rather than her son

Kathy and Ian were cast over 30 years ago. Adam Woodyatt is only 1 year older than Ian and Gillian Taylforth only 5 years younger than Kathy. Kathy was meant to have had Ian at a young age. It only looks strange now as Gillian has aged so well and Adam so badly. Back when the show started Kathy was 35 and Ian 15 they were good casting of mother and son and Kathy looked like she could actually be his mum.

I'm glad that Hetti as Lucy hasn't been mentioned (yet). She used to be the go-to character in these types of threads even though I've always found her Lucy to be a more natural progression of Melissa's version.

The recast was a shame because if she'd been any good the character wouldn't have been killed off.

Sarah Harding; a pop singer who was given the role of Joannie (Robert's wife) in Coronation Street.
Amy Walsh, the sister of a pop singer, who was given the role of Tracey in Emmerdale.
When will these producers ever learn that you need trained actresses/actors to entertain the public.

Gotta agree with you there. I could tolerate Tracy when she was a background character with the odd ditzy line or two...but now she's been given major storylines it is just so blaringly obvious how much she lacks on screen charisma. Im either bored or irritated watching her...and it takes a lot for me to feel that way, I love almost every character on Emmerdale.

Hasn't Gillian had botox or something? I've read it in a few places.

EE recents...

Charlie Cotton - any son of Nick Cotton should be formidable as a minimum. The Cotton blood demands that. Charlie had absolutely no spite or menace. A stiff breeze could have blown him over. Weak casting allowed for weak story and a weak exit.

Vincent - again, zero menace and therefore next to no credibility as a mid-level criminal, partly due to poor storylining though and the lack of on-screen action for the character.

Gavin - panto villain at best, in a terrible storyline.

NuJohnny - as wooden as the boxes in Coker & Sons.

Amy Walsh IS an actress, whether you like her or not. Her sister being in Girls Aloud has nothing to do with it.....

The problem for EE is they will never have a decent villain whilst Phil is still around as it is EE law that he is top dog. Son of NicK would have been a brilliant character to build up as next villain. Cotton 'in charge' of Square the next generation.
