I'm not on Twitter but I can only presume it's Joe Wicks the Body Coach/personal trainer. Also Natalie Cassidy is not the character name but the name of the actress

Is this in some/any way significant?

Probably not, in the same way most posts and threads on here cannot be considered significant

I've come across the term before but I've never seen a proper explanation as to what exactly is meant by TRENDING.

Bearing in mind that I don't have a smartphone or a tablet, I don't do Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat type stuff, can anybody explain it (without being facetious) in the context of this thread, please?

Best way i can explain it is a chart that shows what most people on the given platform is talking about most.

Its like walking into a corner shop and seeing that 10 out of the 15 papers all seem to have the same stories on the front page so you just know you are going to need to read what seems to be so important that most the papers have lead with it...

i.e. i would have not known Eastenders was on BBC 2 had i not seen that it was "trending" in London on twitter (a lot of people in london on twitter was talking about the showing of eastenders on BBC 2).
