O
Or too many Bennetts, or too many Jordans... This whole "Let's stone the Cliftons to death for no logical reason" is getting tired, and I'm not even a fan of them.

Totally agree the final was godawful last year.

Snidey judges
Crap judges choice dances
Blatant overmarking of Kellies Tango
Pros deciding this was the year they were going to publically demand their choice of winner instead of supporting all the celebs.

Then no fans were really happy because "Kellie should have won" "Georgia was treated like an also ran" "Jay was unfairly slated throughout"

And to be honest none of the contestants looked happy about it either, especially in the post show interviews.

Truly they need to sort out the miserable bitter fest that was last years final.

Don't really see the problem with Jo and Karen supporting their brother and Husband during the final. Didn't agree with the Tango marks, but the show dance was the best and suited the personality of Kellie.

Jay who had probably been the best leading up the final underperformed and the Showdance I agreed with Craig about it been boring and unoriginal apart from the Spiderman start I liked that bit.

Georgia probably only really made a challenge with the Charleston. and Katie was never in it as a winner

Just because its the final I don't think the judges should be totally uncritical. With the Showdances in particular I think they have to be honest know they think is the best.

The final was a problem if you were a fan of Jay. He underperformed. He had been built up by his fan base to such a level of brilliance that when he didn't steal the final in terms of performance it had to be a fix. As far as winning the vote that was a done deal from week 3 onwards. All the celebs and pro's knew this so they were only ever competing to be runner up.

I think it's to be expected that they support him, no problem at all with that, but when combined with the sourness overall of the final, that added to it.

I agree that the judges should still judge but with a view of the final being a celebration of all that's been done. All show dances every year are pretty dire and we don't get them being so down on the contestants.

I remember this forum after the final and if was soured for everyone's fans and that was pretty much all down to the judges and how they played it.

Just to add,

I don't think Jay did underperform. He improved on his QS and his Paso was one of the dances of the night.

I guess if Kellie or Georgia had done Jays show dance with a montage of their dances. I would have been underwhelmed, as I wouldn't remember most of their choreography, butJay fans would have watched all his dances so many times that seeing all those moves intricately pieced together with some new bits and bobs and totally different music, was like watching a jigsaw of his time on Strictly. I still watch it often and I loved it.

So yeah I didn't think he underperformed at all, but of course that's only my opinion.

The behaviour of not just the Clifton clan, but Janette in the tesspit last year was commented on all over the internet, not just here. It certainly left a sour taste in the mouths of a lot of viewers, though in all honesty I think it may have been more of an anti Aliona thing than a pro Kevin one, as allegedly she was very unpopular with her fellow pros behind the scenes. Either way it was very unprofessional.

I know Kaycee - I could sort of understand if Jo and Kevin were mediocre dancers and did not deserve to be there not two very successful dancers and competitors over the years.

and a warning for everyone AJ's brother Curtis works on Burn The Floor (was in the production with Gorka) will everyone objects if he joins ???

Yes there has been a quote from Brendan Cole (no Aliona fan) that all the pros now get on which was not the case last year.

Ermm...no, it wasn't. What soured the whole thing for me was the fact the my favourite was knowingly competing to be a runner up as Aurora explained in the post above.

Of course he's not a fan - he used a photo of her as publicity for his tour, which she did not take part in, and she objected, so legal letters were exchanged.

Before that he was more than happy to have her on his previous tour.

Reading the article makes me believe the rumour that she specifically requested Kevin and not another dancer who might be more raunchy.

Here is my 5p on the final (and semi final and quarter final).

Spoiler
Last series was on fire, up until Musical's week when the series turned very sour. Anita's Argentine Tango was so poorly choreographed that the 6 from Craig was silly. I hated Kellie's Viennese Waltz and the 36! was way over the top. Anton's choreo for Katie's Foxtrot was very poor. That dance should have been 10s if Anton had actually bothered. Jay's Rumba was one of only 4 dances he excelled in (Tango, Jive and Charleston were the other three) all other of his dances were missing that wow factor for me. Georgia's Foxtrot was the other dance that came out of that week with any sense of dignity. All this put Helen in a dangerous place as she didn't help herself by over acting that paso to such a degree it was oddly comedic. She went home which was a sad moment as she was a victim of Anita justice voters (I was one of those), Jay voters. Who even 9 months later regard him the best dancer Strictly has ever seen (girl please, read your Strictly history books) more on this later. Kellie voters or Clifton voters. Trust me the Cliftons are adored on twitter.

On to the Semis (the worst show of the series). Katie was let down in the Waltz again by Anton. But TPTB already determined Anton (not Katie) must be in the final so she was always going to be saved in the DO regardless of opponent. Anita it was so their justifications were feesable luckily for them. Georgia was so bad at Cha-Cha-Cha it looked like a W1 dance (well she did have cooties or whatever here illness was ). The fact that I was denied an Argentine Tango was sad. Jay was terrible at Viennese Waltz and he blinking did drop Aliona in the Charleston. I ain't stupid. Kellie was the only dancer who came out this round with dignity.

Well the final was so bad. All 4 did pretty appalling in their first dance. All but Kevin poorly chorographed the Freestyle. Georgia and Kellie did well in their respected Charlestons but Jay and Aliona's arrogance about not doing the Jive did it for me and turned me off them permanently. That Paso was not even holding a torch to Anita yet gets 2 points more. Kellie's 40 for the Tango was ridiculous as the dance was not even choreographed to score a 40.

Which leads me on the Jay fans who have turned me off Jay even more. Evey poll he is in is voted in such numbers it is quite sad. I feel that they are in no mood to move on. Yes I stan Natalie but it does not cloud my opinion that there are things better out there. In fact I am already dreading the "Not as good as Jay" posts as there are quite a few dancers better than him in the past and there will be in the future. The sooner they accept that the better.

I am sorry if any remarks I have said have upset posters but I have become increasingly disgruntled and I want to clean the slate and move on to enjoy the series. This is my 14th go at the rodeo and I like entering every series like it is my first and then rank accordingly as I go. It is just how I watch the show. Yes I like being shady about the show. But it is because I love the show so much and every aspect of the show. I get fed up with stuff and that is because I know it can be far better. I hope tat the competition is very tight and stand out dances come from multiple sources.

I want this series' final to not have the winner predetermined and ALL the pros bring their A game.

So here it is to the new series. Hope it is a good one. I have had such personal pain since the end of last series that I need it to be good.

Yes it was very strange to not use his leading lady from the Tour on the promo and goods he was selling.

Coincidentally, while on Strictly with Brendan, Kirsty Gallacher had the same problem as Aliona with someone illegally using her image to sell goods.

It wouldn't surprise me. She seems very family orientated and concerned about not embarrassing them, so silly headlines are probably the last thing she wants. Aside from Anton, Kevin seems the best pro to have to avoid those - he never has any kind of sexy chemistry with his partners and even if he wasn't married I don't think anyone would imagine you'd dump Jamie Redknapp to run off with him.

That's a very good and accurate post but you didn't need to put spoiler tags around it as you're talking about last year.
But, yes, agree with it all.

The sour grapes over who wins, I blame squarely on the Dance Off system continuing from the quarter finals. If they just eliminated the lowest placed on combined scores from the QF onwards, the genuinely popular would continue. Where now you end up with accusations of Judges Favourites which voters bitterly resent.

Sometimes spoiler tags are particularly useful for long posts (as in this case and Stigs summary of Wednesday).

Excellent post. I hope this year is a genuinely open final. I do think the obvious winner may have impacted the latter stages in terms of motivation.

Totally agree. Also the head judge making the split decision. Should go to viewer vote. I know it is the stuff of XF but it would stop the unnecessary controversy. Let's face it they know the viewer vote before results show.

I'm excited to see them all dance tonight. Not massively excited about any of the couplings, so will be interesting to see who emerges as an early favourite.

I don't care if there's an obvious winner, my fave rarely wins, so I'm more than used to it, but I do hope the producers have a word about the feel good factor being all important in this show.

The show works because it's not like X Factor.

Yeah agree QF and SF should be two dances (1BR 1 latin) so all couples get a fair shot and let the public sort it out.
