If they were really serious about getting Anton or Brendan to take over from Len, then this year would have been a good year to test them out on ITT and small stints on the main Strictly show talking about the performances. (Don't particularly want either of them to do the job, as I think there are far better and more imaginative options, but career planning and all that!)

Re Chloe and Neil: Neil is already professional and so his status is unchanged. I feel a bit sorry for Chloe but shfe knew it was a risk. Tbh, I am mystified as to why Neil would be happy to do such a low key job, given that as an ex Word Champion he must have lots of other options and he probably had to put other engagements on ice whilst he was waiting for confirmation of his role on Strictly. Unless of course, he specifically signed up to do the choreography because that is what he enjoys (as opposed to that being the best offer he could get) because it is quite an influential role. Also I guess it gives him more time to do other things like lectures, adjudication and continuing his teaching exams.
Anne you are absolutely right in all your comments. Neil and Katya have just come back from Japan and Neil told me it was their last trip until after Strictly.

He can still do lectures and workshops but as he is a regularly competing pro his comps and demos are on hold as Katya has a celebrity partner although if for whatever reason she is out in the early stages that may of course change?

Neil was heavily involved in SCD 2015 as a choreographer and was in some pro group dances although not being one of the official pros.

Anton is so popular with the public and I don't think it would go down well if he was dropped.
Sometimes you have to know when to quit. I think the audience would get over it.

Yes, I just think Neil and Chloe get the worst possible deal i.e. competitve careers put on hold whilst their partners are tied up in Strictly, more scrutiny of personal life through their partners' higher profile, even though they are not partnering themselves . And for Chloe, she is going to have to change status at a very young age. Still, they knew what they were getting into, and in the longer term, focussing on choreography could be a good and more satisfying move for Neil career wise/artistically.

I am hoping for some good choreography and incisive comments on ITT.

I agree about Anton, that he is very popular. This forum is out of tune with public on some things. Anton is very much the most recognised and loved pro on Strictly. Hence he gets further on the show than he should do. Also in the papers this morning (well the broadsheets anyway), it is Ed Balls who is getting the most coverage of the celebs and generating the most publicity for Strictly, not this forum's preferred celebs.

I agree with you Ann. Some people think that this forum represents the majority of the public opinion and that the way people think and vote here are a reflection of that. I give you my husband as an example. He's not into Strictly as I am and have been watching as a casual viewer over the years with me. The only ones he can recognise are Anton ("the old one", as he says) and Brendan ("the one with the big head and curly hair"), ie, the two longest serving pros. Anton may not be popular here but he is the most recognisable face out of Strictly - not taking into consideration Claudia and Tess and maybe Len - thanks to his daytime telly presenting ventures. I'm not his greatest fan but a) he has a role in the show which he fulfils well and b) he appeals to a large section of the audience, so I just have to deal with it.

Is the mole form last night having a lie in? Can't wait to hear who is dancing with whom!

It was red carpet last night (there's an account from someone who was there on the red carpet thread) - it's pairing up night tonight. I hope Stig has a flask of coffee to keep them going!

Ah .... I thought it was pairings as well last night as when it goes out on TV it's all in one programme.

As for Anton being dropped, it wouldn't bother me, his Latin choreography is lousy.

As for the two pros sitting out it wouldn't be fair if it wasn't new pros

I think Neil and Chloe. AJ is surely the only option for tiny, teenaged Claudia?

Have just seen the photos in the daily mail (I know, I know).
All focus on Daisy's braless boobs and Ed Balls' moves. He looked so smiley though.
Anton is still bloody good at ballroom. Not all the men are, it's Latin heavy.
I did not know Tony Beak had such a hairy chest though
Ridiculously excited now.
Thanks in advance for the spoiler. Xx

It could be Kevin and Karen sitting out.

I mean having 3 Cliftons seems a tad like an overload IMO and Jo sat out last year; having 3 almost seems as though the BBC is endorsing the family

... although that could just be wishful thinking
