9. Britney: Slave is the only song I like from that album. I only recently re-heard the album version of
Boys and it's awful.
8. BOMT: Singles and
Soda Pop are the only ones I'd really remember.
7. Oops!: I have great childhood memories of my sister playing the cassette in her room.
Don't Go Knockin' is still amazing.
6. Circus: It's a fun album but quite meaningless. I loved the singles but tended to listen to the unreleased tracks like
Dangerous or rare songs like
Rock Me In or
Phonography.
5. Britney Jean: I think BJ gets a lot of flack but it is full of great dance tracks like
Til' It's Gone, Work B*tch, Now That I've Found You as well as classic poppy songs like
Brightest Morning Star, Passenger and
Perfume. It is sloppily produced though.
4. Femme Fatale: FF is crammed with great Britney songs! The singles alone are varied and fresh sounding while album tracks like
Inside Out, How I Roll, TTYH, U&D, HATLM and
Scary play with genres and could have been perfect singles. I completely agree with you about
HIAM, that breakdown gives me chills! It was perfectly represented in the video with the fight and breakdown montage.
3. In the Zone: ITZ was the first era where I sat up and took notice. I think I got to the age where I understood and appreciated what the songs were about. I remember seeing the
MATM video premiere with my friends on one of the music channels and we were all silent and then just said "Woah...".
Toxic is my favourite song that still sounds fresh and exhilerating to this day.
Everytime is hauntingly beautiful.
TOMH, BOM and
Early Mornin' are classic Britney album tracks. I love the etheral vibe that Britney oozes throughout
ITZ coupled with that Island swagger which I mentioned reappears on
Glory.
2. Glory: It gives me
ITZ vibes with a big dose of fun in the middle of it. I think the key to me loving an album is when Britney sounds engaged with the music.
Glory has yet to stand the test of time (I wonder will it be forgettable in a years time?) but the majority of tracks make some kind of impact on me. I love all the tracks except
PS, WYN and
Clumsy (it's catchy but the generic nature bugs me). I'm looking forward to seeing how the singles/videos/performances play out this era.
1. Blackout: While
ITZ caught my attention,
Blackout whacked me around the head and insisted I paid attention. I was in my moody late teens and things in my life felt so dramatic and world-ending so for Britney to be struggling in the media and dropping a dark, grimey, dance-driven album just clicked with me. I love Britney for her talent to notice an earworm or catchy hit, not her writing skills or credibility as an artist but Blackout showed both sides to her. There is not a single song on this album that I do not love, do not know the words to STILL to this day, or have not danced provocatively to in a gay bar!

It is epic. It is iconic.
