I have found a letter in there that was also in What's on TV, but they come from two different people!

Also letters appear about plotlines that have yet to have taken place before publication!

This really annoys me when they offer £10 for every letter published.

Generally most Agony Aunt letters are written by Auntie herself/himself.

Or maybe some enterprising person copied the first letter, knowing it was fit to be published, and sent it in to Inside Soap as their own work?

Oh I found that out years ago. There were letters from so called viewers commenting on episodes that hadn't yet aired as the magazine is usually released the week before. I emailed them to complain but they never responded.

I, too, have noticed that some letters are reproduced, either entirely or partially, in different listings magazines, probably magazines that belong to the same group (Axel Bauer, ...), and also concern storylines or performances that are extremely recent (too close to the printing cut-off date for the show to have aired, letter/e-mail written, then considered for publication) and, so, in my opinion, are written by people who have seen the previews. I also realise that some of the letters are real, as a few of the posters above have confirmed. Could these posters confirm the length of time between sending the correspondence and its publication. I would imagine at least two to three weeks.

I love the spoof Agony Aunt, Mrs. Mills in The Sunday Times which takes the mickey out of those columns.

Smash Hits used to have a letters page which was so funny tears would roll down my face.

Think Neil Tennant wrote most of the letters as well as the replies.

Black Type? Or was that Tom Hibbert? I loved SH when it went all surreal.

Not totally sure who wrote them, but I re-read a few issues recently, and just howled.

SH had the best journalists, it was ace.

Agreed on both counts. The cartoons were savagely funny too.

Hi all,

I sent in a letter detailing intircatley my feelings on Andy/Gareth from EastEnders and it failed to make publication, I therefore conclude it is indeed a fake fraud

Sounds about right. I remember them well taking the piss out of Prince when he attended the Brit Awards with that huge bodyguard.

Was that 'Black Type'?

I remember that!

Neil Tennant all those years ago, I remember when the mag said that he'd gone to 'become a pop star'!

Yeah, what DID become of Neil Tennant?

I wonder if he ever did become that pop star.

I guess he'll be about 62 now, married with loads of kids and cats and dogs.

He should've stayed at Smash Hits, he could have gone on to edit more magazines or even a website.

NOT!
