Or is it just me?

I said on another thread that 2013 was probably my fav yr for the show, except for a few bits of crap (Tina surrogacy and her affair with Peter) I think the whole yr was amazing

2013 got a lot of shit on here apparently

But when you compare 3 yrs ago to the state it's in now, there's really no comparison even if you thought 2013 was crap

If you thought it was crap 3 yrs ago, what the hell must you think of it now in 2016?!

I enjoyed it, 2013 was the first full year of the show I watched. They had some great stuff like the Rover's fire, the David/Nick stuff, Carla was still likable, we had Tracy and Rob and we got the famous scene of David throwing nuts at Gail.

Same here. I think I started watching maybe November 2012?

The nut scene was hilarious!

Then another funny scene was Lewis's DVD after he swindled Gail! Her face!

Stories were great too:
David/Nick/Kylie, everything coming out at Lily's christening
Hayley doing her bucket list
Lewis swindling Gail
Nick's brain damage
Hell, even Flash the tortoise was kinda good (was that in 2013?)

I did find 2013 got better from maybe June onwards tho. The first 5 months it was mainly scenes that I liked. I think starting in June the stories were what I liked

I felt bad for Gail with that Lewis stuff I mean she lost her house

I think you're right the second half of 2013 might have been better, we had Todd's return and truth about Lily coming out. I also enjoyed the Peter/Tina story even though most did not.

I did too, It was the last time that the show was properly good. The Kirsty / Tyrone abuse storyline was my favourite storyline from that year. The Rover's Fire and Karl killing Sunita was also really good imo.

I forgot about Karl's story. It dragged a bit, it was an ok story but Karl was a crap villain IMO. To go from just being a harmless lazy bastard to an evil murderer was just ridiculous!

My fav story of 2013 was deffo David/Nick/Kylie

I think the story was supposed to be that he had some sort of breakdown after the gambling addiction stuff etc, but I agree he wasn't the best of villians.

I hope Kirsty returns one day to the street, she was a great villian.

For me, 2013 was actually when the show started to go down the skids. The first few months were really good (under Phil Collinson) as we had Lewis swindling Gail, Sylvia returning, the climax of Tyrone and Kirsty's domestic abuse, the Rovers fire and Karl killing Sunita. However, it quickly started to go into freefall with the dire Play the White Man plot. The climax to Killer Karl turned into a damp squib and then we had the dreaded Peter and Tina debacle. We also had some exits handled really clumsily like Sylvia and Tommy's off-screen send-offs.

Agree with this 100%. It was even more pointless when they then had Rob go from normal character to evil murderer the following year.

First half was really great, second half was okay.

My favourite stories were Kirsty and Tyrone, the Rovers fire and Chesney and Katy's breakup.

If I'm honest since 2011 with all the Frank Foster stuff, most of the next few years blend in for me & I forget what happened when!!
This never happened in the 00s when I could remeber what happened which year!!

Liked the Kisrsty/Tyrone stuff till Fiz stuck her beak in & deflected the sympathy away from Ty and ss you say thrte was some decent Platt stuff but I loathed the whole Karl/Sunita thing if that was 2013 & as with 2011/12 there was way too much involvement of the dreadful Stella!!
Was Betty's death/funeral 2013, if so then that was one of the show's lowest points ever for me, a proper insult to a Corrie icon!!

Edit: Oops, two years out, that proves my point!! Time flies!!

Mandy Kamara

Well at least Big Bird Mand was better than her daughter, Mardy Arse Jenna! Did she ever crack a smile?

Tho I did think Mandy's acting was really shit. Mandy was quite comical at first, later in the yr all she did was moan at Lloyd and the only things she ever seemed to say were: "stop it Lloyd!" or "Lloyd stop it!"

Big Bird Mand and Lloyd were not good together. She didn't seem like the kind of woman he'd date IMO

To be honest, I really enjoyed 2013.

It was for me the last time the show was good, and was definitely the best year of the 2010's, apart from 2010.

The cast was very strong and the storylines were gripping. It all went down the pan in January 2014, with Hayley's death.

Was Lloyd good with anyone?

Him and Mandy weren't great but they were much better than him with Andrea. He became really unlikable with her.

Who was that? Was it the woman he left Liz for? I saw a few episodes on youtube where he had broke up with Liz and was dating some woman who started taunting Liz.

Most of it was awful (in my opinion).

The fire was another one of Phil Collinson's dumb sensationalist plots as he had some sort of hard on with destroying buildings in the street.

Karl Munro went from cheat to murderer.

The overrated Kirsty storyline finally ended, but of course had to make her a hero what with her giving herself up. Not that she went down for domestic abuse, only for lying to the court. Then we got vomit inducing scenes with Tyrone and Fiz giving their love to each other with cringy dialogue.

The Hayley cancer storyline. Didn't help Fiz got to be at the forefront of that.

The only decent thing to come out of that year was the introduction of Pat Phelan.

Oi, Mandy was a great character and really brightened up the Rovers Return. She could have been the next Betty Turpin. Such a pity they let the character slip from their grasp.

What about Todd's return and the introduction of Tim? And you got to give to Blackburn for changing Tim, I think Collinson had intended for Tim to be the next villain.

I forgot about Todd's return. Good point.

And yes Tim is good also, especially with his pair up with Sally. Was it the wedding of Peter and Carla when Tim's van broke down and blocked the road?

I don't remember that, all I remember was Carla getting wasted and Peter and Tina kissing

Oh now that I think about it didn't Sally and Tim do it in the bridal suite or was that another wedding?
