His character is being killed off again!!

What's the betting that nutjob Emma kills him?

"One of the soaps favourite characters" they're having a laugh surely?

Why did they give this away? It would have even brilliant to see it without knowing it was happening

Emma's definitely playing a part in this . I have to say I'm not remotely sad to see James go, because I've always found him as a bit of a damp squib and rather pointless. That said, Bill Ward is a great actor and was absolutely brilliant as Charlie Stubbs, what a character he was, it's quite embarrassing to compare Charlie to James as the characters are poles apart. I'm just hoping that Gillian Kearney sticks around, because it's looking unlikely now.

SMH

So I guess Emma kills him after finding out about him and Moira's smash session or will there be a double Barton death in the next stunt?

That would be awsome, any chance Chrissie is going too?

Brilliant news
Such a boring character and at times, the actor looked bored and was guilty of doing a Sam Womack by phoning it in.

With James being killed, i suppose they won't kill Holly like i originally thought they would as he is clearly the big death.

He's one of my favourite characters. But as long as the actor is still alive I'm not bothered.

Just as well, she's currently the most entertaining character.

As for the news, I think it's great. More of the Barton boys!
Wonder if his exit will coincide with Holly's, whether it's orchestrated by Cain, or whether Dean will do it.

Judging by the article, it sounds like he was axed. "He gets teased backstage as it's the second time he has been knocked off an ITV soap.". I don't mind James, he was a bit of a nothing character but there's nothing to make me dislike him either.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gillian Kearney leaves as well. If Emma kills James (which is definitely possible) then Emma can't stay in the programme long term. I'm glad that there's going to be a new storyline for the NuBartons though, even if it does involve one of them dying!

Regarding possible further departures, I can't see Gillian Kearney (Emma) staying for too long, sadly.

Along with the actors who play Joanie, Hot Pierce and Ex Dr Bailey.

Meh no biggie.

The actor was brilliant as Charlie Stubbs in Corrie but something didn't quite click here. James is dull and underused. On top of that he started off on the back foot after Kate Oates rewrote the Barton family's entire backstory.

What was the point of James being Adam's father in the end? Adam rarely interacts with James or his 'brothers'. All it did was taint Moira's character and what she'd had with John further and after she'd already shacked up with Cain she didn't need that.

Bill Ward has phoned the part in as well.

Oh, I will be sorry to see him go, I like his family unit.

Nevertheless, as Jessica_Bobbing says, it will be nice to have his family front of stage for a while

As long as it is a good story and not Cain or Moira killing him, I am not that fussed!

they haven't really given him much to do other than supporting other peoples storylines. a waste of a decent actor

'They' apparently didn't. Cheers for ruining it as usual, Dan Wootton.

The storyline is one of the channel’s big priorities for the year and they have been desperately trying to keep it under wraps.
