I don't get all the dislike for the enforcers on here..
The people they visit all owe money, admittedly some are in a bad position and I do feel for them but when I see renters who haven't paid rent for ages or people who haven't paid suppliers and so on I get angry, I make it a matter of personal pride to always pay my bills, sometimes I have had to go without to get it done but I have always done it, all the enforcers do is make others do thesame ![]() Too many people these days seem to think its perfectly OK to have things you can't afford to pay for and then when the situation catches up with them and the bailiffs turn up, they then start acting like morons. Without the baliffs there would be thousands more people ripping off others without the fear of recrimination for their selfishness, so how on earth people in here can be so abusive to them is beyond me. Sums up the morality of this country these days I fear

Christ, they are an arm of the law, and they have a court judgement to enforce, they are not there to be contrite or amenable. |

Why do people keep letting bailiffs into their homes for? never let them in.
There are some circumstances bailiffs can for entry such as re-possesion, magistrates etc to name a couple but most cases bailiffs can not force entry into residential properties, more people need to be aware of this. They have numerous chances to pay, or explain their situation, work out a payment plan and when it goes to court they still have chance to pay. Instead most ignore all of this until several months down the line the debt that they know exists comes knocking on the door and how dare the bailiffs demand payment. In most of the rent arrears cases they've had the rent money from housing benefit and Im yet to see a portable TV in the living room. And surprise surprise in most of the cases after being persuaded they somehow had the money anyway. |

Perhaps because they want to find a solution to their problems. Not letting them in won't solve anything, it may even increase the debt.

To be honest, even if wanted to sort out a debt, I wouldn't let them in either. It gives them too much control of the situation.
Edit, seems they can't charge extra fees. I still don't see how antagonising them helps the situation. |

Luckily i'm almost debt free now so hopefully i'll never see a bailiff at my door again. I was watching something the otherday on iplayer and they wre saying "you're only ever 3 pay cheques away from becoming homeless." quite a sobering thought. |

I may be in the minority here but I don't see any issues with the way the agents conduct themselves. People have commented on Stewart, Brian, Del and Dael's behaviour but they usually only become a bit aggressive when the debtors are blatantly lying or don't want to even attempt to resolve the situation. They are used to being lied to, sworn at, etc and it must affect their approach in certain situations.
It's a thankless task like parking wardens but somebody's got to do it otherwise we'll all be getting away with not paying our debts. I understand the debtors are not happy to see them but at the end of the day if they had paid their debts or respected the court orders, they wouldn't have agents turning up at their door. Someone, somewhere is owed that money which the courts have decided is rightfully theirs. Pay up or make an arrangement. Problem solved! |

Why have they cut back on the number of evictions they screen on the show now, does anyone know? I prefer those to the debt collections, as they're just more interesting, although I do, of course, feel sorry for those involved.
Also, why is the narration so heavily scripted now? Kinda goes like this: End of part 1: "What started out as a standard debt recovery has escalated into a full on battle. Will the agents ever get the money they came for?" End of part 2: "Those agents got the result, but in so-and-so's next case, they face a debtor/tenant etc..." And the overused classic... "But if so-and-so doesn't keep up repayments the agents....will be back". The show has become so regimented these days! |

A lock like that on a door that took a swift shoulder to knock it in?
I'd say that they wasted their money! |

I wonder if the Son had kept quiet about paying if they would have had to leave with nothing , it would be a waste of time taking anything they had , i think the son started to get worried he wouldnt be able to watch the TV or sleep in a bed and panicked, he probably should have listened to his Mom

.Although if you have to wonder how he could come up with so much money a month when he did not work himself. |

That mechanic! 'Hold my balls, squeeze them and make me scream' 😂. Another guarantor whos good deed has backfired. I don't think I could be a guarantor to anyone, not even my own child. I'd rather give them a sofa until they sort themselves out.

Couldn't have been much of a garage not to have any assets (tools/parts/equipment). Farms and garages usually have the richest pickings for seizure.
And what a dump !!!!!! I wouldn't let them near my lawnmower let alone my car !!!!! |

You gotta be some special kinda bonkers to be a guarantor OR, rich. One of those 2! And yes, don't even agree to do it for your child, or sibling, or your best friend you've known since you were 5! Unless, as I said, you can comfortably afford to pay shedloads out if they default. My friend was asked to do this for her daughter, when she went to uni, for a shared house with 6 other people who my friend didn't know. She was asked to sign a contract which would make her jointly and severally liable for any non payment of rent or damages to the house from ANY of the 7 people in it. So she was basically being asked to sign a document with an open ended agreement to pay whatever the rent loss was, or what the damages cost. Could be a grand, could be 6 grand! She refused. She said she would rather pay 6 months rent up front for her daughter (which would have been 2 grand,) than sign this. Then at least that is all she will pay, and also her daughter can give her some back over the months when she gets her student finance. Amazingly the landlord agreed, and accepted the 6 months rent in advance, without a guarantor. Then he just kept accepting the rent monthly at the end of that 6 months. No-one defaulted or did any damage which was fab,,, but they COULD have! As we have seen, it has happened to many!!! |
