BB7 and BB8 were very similar to me - good series but too long, too many housemates, similar housemates, house next door/halfway house etc. Yet for some reason BB7 is loved on here and BB8 is hated.”
Because BB7 started off really well and arguably ended well too. Psychologically, peoples' perception of quality is heavily influenced by first and last impressions, and far less by what happens in the middle. So BB7 is more highly regarded because BB8 didn't even have the benefit of starting or ending well, despite the former being almost equally as dull for long periods, with, as you say, rubbish twists and too many housemates. The drop in quality was the long middle act.
