To get myself even more into the mood for the new series of Strictly, I was just looking back at last year's opening Group Dance and it is amazing to see the couples mixed and matched in the routine. It makes you think what might have been pair-wise. Looking particularly well-matched in this number to me were:

Jamelia & Aljaz
Kellie & Aljaz
Katie & Pasha
Katie & Kevin
Helen & Giovanni

I really liked this one, and still watch it back from time to time.

There were some great group dances last year.

This was my favourite.

and this was well choreographed with the video.

This opening dance was the first time I'd completely guessed celebrities wrong!

Jamelia I thought looked amazing, then her solo dances were underwhelming. I thought Katie looked wooden, and in fairness she was a couple of times, but all in all a lovely dancer. Most of the men I guessed incorrectly, in particular Jay; I marked him down as not very good

Don't feel bad - so did Jay!

Of course he did - he had to throw everyone off the scent didn't he?

He couldn't have exactly tweeted "I am actually a ringer and though I was deliberately holding back in the group dance, I will still have this whole contest in the bag come Week 3!" now could he?? "

"...probably mercifully brief ride" my a***!!!"

As an opener yes...but I think this dance featuring the eliminated contestants of 2013 was wonderful too:

Sometimes he just dances bad,

but with hindsight he would have been expected to dance better in the Group Dance.

That was such an amazing group dance, it really set it up for a great series

Peter, Jamelia, and Georgia really shone in it.

I remember thinking that Jamelia and Peter in particular would be really good. So that worked out well then... Still it was a good group dance.

I loved the one at the end with all the eliminated contestants as well, when ironically Peter was OK and Jamelia was really really good.

I really like that dance except for the male and female celeb sections. They mostly look a tad uncomfortable/lost without a partner.

I actually think Jay looked very good in the group dance except for the pretty cringey (choreographic ally) male celeb section so am not surprised he hid behind Peter who, To be fair, gave it some welly.

Oh I hope this year is good, last year was soooo vintage!

I love that one!

Particular highlights are Jamelia rocking it and when Brendan exits the pasta early leaving Kirsty with the end of it dangling out of her mouth, bless her! 😂

Yeah it's great, isn't it? Not least because they're out and they don't give a sh*t so they're all really having fun. It also shows off what we really loved about all of them, thier best bits- Carol twirling and leaving that pesky dancing to Pasha, Jeremy arsing about with props, Peters manic-ness, the Gleb special, and yes, the sheer ungallant (but secretly hilarious) nature of Brenda sometimes.

Still unsure if I'll watch this year, but if I get half as many laughs as I did last year from the show and posting here, I'll give it a go.

i can't see how we'll get another year like last year. It was brilliant.

The don't give a f*** attitudes of Ola, Aliona and Tristan who all presumably knew it was their last year.
THAT JIVE!!
Claudia's reactions to Peter Andre "can I just say"
Jamelia's Charleston just when you thought her journey was over.
Blackpool and Jamelias dance off.
Peter's Jive (apparently) at Blackpool
Jamelia's ITT segment
Peter Andre's completely obvious dead man walking week following jamelia's exit and the cupcake in the face.
Ola quitting mid series and blabbing in the press.
Anton having to do a show dance
Karen and Jeremy and Natalie and ainsley's friendships
Janette and Aljaz series long attempt to dodge dinner at the Andres.
Anita's endless patience with Gleb and that crazy Salsa (apparently)
Zoe's nights out!

Can we just have last year again 😂😂

Definitely a vintage year. Only downside was the dearth of male contenders. How many weeks was it to the first female elimination? As for Can I Just Say Pondray - well, that's what FF buttons are for!

Well for me, when he appeared, it was a 'go and put the kettle on' moment. But I swear that I will never ever forget the sheer WTF-ness (made up word I know- but it fits) I experienced when I happened to catch that Blackpool jive, live .

I just......my brain couldn't handle it, it was almost an out of body experience, when you're thinking 'what am I watching??' like catching a Game of Thrones style scene in the middle of Songs of Praise..or something.

Lisa is right, last year was gold...
