"Will Strictly Come Dancing Turn EdBalls into a National Treasure" - Isnt That Anne Widdecombes
Rightful Title ? http://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-...ional-treasure Surely no one can replace our Dear Ann as Strictly Come Dancing's one and only National Treasure, If Russell Grant, Lisa Riley and Julian Clarey couldn't surely Ed B hasn't got a chance.. What do you think of Mr Balls chances on the show ? Will he be Waltzing back into number 10 to save Labour or will he be taking the quick step exit through the Strictly Stage Door ? |

Hi John, I have a feeling that we won't enjoy Ed as much as we enjoyed Dear Anne but who knows. |

Seriously I don't understand people's problems with Op threads
![]() They're always good humored, entertaining and creative for the most part IMO. A lot of people like me happen to like them and please don't be petty as to report him to the mods. ..like last year. You don't like them ? Put him on ignore. Simple.

Pity the search function is screwed, otherwise we might be able to find it. |

Simple. However bulk bumping up of old threads once the discussion has died down/people have lot interest is another matter. Defintely not a valid thing to do in my view Terry, and very annoying. ) I don't think Ann is in any way a national treasure. I think it is difficult for any current or ex politician to become one for obvious reasons, and I think Ann and Edwina were pretty extreme examples of that statement. The real question is, should politicans do Strictly (or other reality programmes)? However, political considerations aside, I quite like Ed and look forward to seeing him on Strictly. I think the 'Ed Balls day' episode softened some people's views of him, although for those who do not like the direction of the Labour party in the last few years, that may cut no ice. |

Possibly the only ex MP with national treasure status is Michael Portillo, who has totally reinvented himself as a consummate broadcaster, since his political days. Ed Balls came across very well on Celebrity Bake Off and I'm looking forward to seeing him on Strictly, but National Treasure - No

Based on his smiliness on the red carpet, nifty suit on his photo and his self-deprecating humour as seen on Sports Relief GBBO, he might have a shot, yes.
But difficult to predict this year who the public are going to warm to. Jeremy was not expected by anyone last year to go as far as he did (in jumping the shark, underground mining, anyone?)! |
