EE Teenagers

I see they're bringing it back again, like the old days when they showed a lot of Fatboy, Lola, Whitney etc. I remember a lot of fans getting annoyed saying they were taking over the show and that it was becoming a show of immature irritating teens. Do you think it's turning into this again?

I have to say I really like Louise now, didn't in the beginning. But I just can't take to Courtney. I know she will probably grow on me too but at the moment she just reminds me of a young Kat Slater or young Roxy. The way she dresses at her age and her face looks too young on her body! It's becoming a teen show and I'm finding it abit annoying how they're getting most screen time at the minute. I like them but only in small doses! It's becoming the Shakil, Courtney and Mark Junior show
CUP OF TEAAA!

Courtney and Mark are a breath of fresh air imo. They are far more representative of young people these days than Jay, Ben, Whitney etc.

I dont mind them, Courtney looks ALOT like Alice Branning to me, but with Bexs change in a look, those two and even Louise are starting to merge into one generic looking teenage girl.

Last night's episode was like a episode of Hollyoaks.

No one else think it strange 18-20 year olds hanging out with kids aged 14-16? Get some friends your own age (i. e adults!)

I like Courtney Mark and Louise

Mark and Courtney are only in the show for a few weeks. The only young people who have dominated the show are Ben, Abi and Jay.

Can't abide Louise. Mostly due to the actresses portrayal of the character.

Like Bex, don't mind Shakil.

I don't see them as some sort of job lot any more than I do the middle aged characters. They're all individuals.

Courtney and Mark are great. Bex, Louise, Shakil are cringe.

The actress for Courtney just seems far too young and I also find it weird characters old enough to drink etc hanging round at an under age party when they can just as easily go to the pub with people their own age?!

Yes, they have dominated too much lately. I don't mind young people in small doses and I understand all demographics have to be catered for, but it feels like the more mature and engaging characters are playing second fiddle. I just hope it's the traditional summer lull, but having said that we are in September now.

I read the spoilers for this week and next - for the first time in a while - and thought no thank you. Never should one age group dominate screen time over others in a show like EE. You need a mix at all times. I like Jay, I like Ben, I have seen a couple of episodes with Courtney in and quite liked her. I don't think the actress playing Louise is right for the part. I do not like Shaggy doo at all. I like the character less every time I see him.

Louise is meant to be 14 or 15 isn't she? And Mark is sbout 19 or 29 isn't he? I have not seen Mark so cannot comment. However from the spoilers alone I found it very odd that he was involved with the likes of Louise. He should be mixing with the likes of Abi and Jay.

I don't have an opinion on Bex. I like Stephen and Lauren. I am done with Whitney and Abi.

With the exception of Abii and Louise, it is the characters and the writing, rather than the actor's that I have a problem with.

EastEnders has always had teens, right from day one with Michelle, Ian and Sharon all of whom were given lots of screen time and stories.

It's like the E20/Kirkwood era again. Soooo boring. How many teenagers even watch soaps these days? They don't need to be on screen this much as the general audience for soaps are likely well into middle age. I didn't like watching teenage characters when I was a teenager myself. Zzzzzzzzzzzz.

I watched EE from episode 1 for the first year. Yes you always had teens. Yes they have always had a lot of screen time. But in the early days it was mixed in with every other age group. Smaller cast, less episodes = a more even balance and less filler. But going by the spoilers you have 2 weeks of teens filling up 80% of the screen time.

Mark jnr hanging out with underage kids doesn't sound right in the spoilers and now people who are watching the episodes are saying the same!

The number of teens isn't the problem though. It is the way they are being used. That said I would make Courtney full time and get rid of Louise. I would also get rid of that Shaki - and possibly his whole family.

It feels like Courtney and Phil's daughter seem to be really good actors rather than the usual "raw" young actors like Shaki and some before them. But i guess there is no problem with young characters with good scripts that everyone can relate too being shown in rotation with the "main" characters and the "B list" cast.

it's all about balance, quality and timing...which is something that Eastenders don't always get right on a regular basis...

To be fair, it maybe a while (like myself) that All Of Me has watched Hollyoaks, it was always seen as the "teen" favoured soap especially with the storylines they had years and years ago and the time slot.
