She'll see the blinding opportunity to pretend that Kush is the Dad because it's a much better option that Philth,

Eventually this will go wrong and Kush will be in the same shoes Martin was in Christmas last year (Finding out that your baby is not your baby)

I really don't understand the goal of Denise having Phil's baby? Like in terms of storylines?

I think everyone's forgetting the history Denise and Phil share, Phil was involved in Kevin's death (Kevin Wicks, Dean and Carly's adoptive father and arguably Denise's most deepest love) which fully explains the shock horror in Denise's face:

She's carrying the child of the man who killed her one true love.


Once again, DTC has looked at EE history and created a storyline which embellishes the longer-running relationships of the square, this time definitely not retconning. Denise and Phil's main agitation was in Christmas 2011 when Denise found out he was involved in Kevin's death (running in parallel with the Masood B&B fire) and she's hated Phil ever since, part of why she snapped at Louise earlier in the year, foreshadowing her pregnancy.

Plenty of drama and storyline potential.

And also, a parallel + bit of irony, Phil wants Grant to know about a son kept secret from him, meanwhile he himself has a child he doesn't yet know about. Drama and storyline potential there too

Surely if she hates him that much, she will get rid of the baby? If she decides to keep the baby, she just won't tell him, especially because he doesn't remember sleeping with her.

If Phil finds out, he will think that she's lying.

Making Phil the father is silly. Denise hasn't had a happy storyline for ages. Even her and Kush didn't last long at all.

Its definitely going to become explosive

Definitely, the reveal will probably be at Christmas. If everything was rosy, the drama would be boring and it's great to see Diane being given another storyline to get her teeth into and shine with real drama. However, Denise does need the light and shade and I hope that Kush stays with Denise to be a father to her child just like Martin did for Arthur, another ironic parallel there.

Any screen time for Denise is good, but this isn't a nice storyline. This year, Denise has just had unhappiness. If they had to make her pregnant, why couldn't it just be story of a older women failing in love with a younger man, unexpectedly getting pregnant but the younger man sticking by her and them raising a child, which strengthens their relationship. Personally, sometimes I just want to see a happy storyline which isn't too complicated.


I know that Kush has messed up with Arthur, but I still think that he deserves another chance to be a dad.

Look at the corri storyline to see where this is probably heading. Phil won't want anything todo with the kid(or not know) and Kush will play baby daddy. These storylines always bug me. I mean Kush already has a kid but that doesn't seem to matter.

I really don't want Kush pretending that the baby is his, but you are probably right.


DTC and Alex Lamb are something else. This time last year, Kush lost Zaair, a year later they make his love interest pregnant with another man's baby. If that's not mean, I don't know what is.

Lamb is simply dreadful.

I wish Sean O'Connor would sack this idiot.

Were the writers going for a bit of irony here? Apparently in Walford people DON'T notice. Sonia was as big as a bloody house and Linda is getting there too. Denise should just get herself a set of storage boxes to carry around to hide the bump.

It wasn't even me being optimistic. I genuinely thought that it made more sense for Kush to be the dad, in terms of storylines. I thought that even DTC and Alex Lamb would understand that.

Great post! agree 100% I think some posters blinded in their hate for Phil can't see beyond that. This story has far reaching consequences that will last for years.

I don't care for Phil, but I don't like that the Mitchells always have to have big storylines. This storyline should have been about just Denise and Kush.

There's no gurantee that any of the characters will be still be around to potentially reveal the truth. Even if they are, whoever the producer is then might not want to revisit the storyline.

What is the big consequence in it being Phil's?

If it's only been like two weeks since she slept with Kush AND she has a positive pregnancy test, how come the doctor thinks she 19 weeks or a lot more far gone that a couple of weeks .... Or did they sleep together before that??? Brain fade but I think they did right??
