I'm not sure but it was certainly out of the blue which you would expect is a sign that your employers are not happy with your work. Kate Oates was announced a long time before she took over and it was a seamless transition.

This has just been one big mess so without a statement coming out from anyone its hard to prove otherwise.

Probably Linda's half sister when Elaine suddenly remembered she bedded Frank in the 70s.

Did Frank win her in a darts match just before he masterminded the Great Train Robbery?

That's the thing, the ideas are there but the execution is so poor. They always got carried away and made the story far too complicated for its own good.

If you look at DTC and Alex Lamb's Twitter feeds they were constantly praising themselves for the work they produced. But at least somebody enjoyed the episodes, I guess.

If Elaine was Janine's secret mum I would deffo be cheering her onto her 3rd murder/accidental killing!

I stopped following both for this very reason!

Apparently SOC doesn't do social media. I think that's a good thing.

DTC would have brought in Frank's secret son and they would have had a steamy affair until Pat's ghost arrives screaming 'nooo... he's your bruva'.

Yes, and Pat was Margaret Thatcher's personal bodyguard before returning to the Square in 1986. She met Frank at Tory party conference (he was Chancellor of the Exchequer at the time).

That's true. I think the last couple of years were more of a disappointment because DTC made such an excellent start in his first year.

I bet it was Pat that led John Major away from peas and village fetes onto an Edwina Currie lined path of debauchery...

When ever i tune in It seems to have lost it's way every time, there is to much focus on relationships with teenagers.

I look forward to the Phil and Grant stuff next week, then probably turn off again.

I must have missed the episode where Gavin turned into a giant squid

Yep, but Eastenders always has these types of weeks where the storys are just forgetable every year or so but... as i had said on the forum last week, things had changed rapidly downhill after the great last episode with peggy....

And i know you was joking about Pam and Les..

Agreed. The same applies to TV shows. Generally I find the shorter a television show lasts the better it often is - particularly if it has a decent ending. For example I loved Just Good Friends with Jan Francis and Paul Nicholas growing up. However I have always been grateful that it didn't run for years. The 3 series' were just the right amount.

The same applies to soap characters. Other than the legacy ones you never forget, the most memorable characters are the ones who only stay a year or 2.

EE's problem is that it has too many characters I used to like but I don't anymore because they have run out of ideas for them but keep them around anyway. Then they just get stories for the sake of it.

It looks like the new producer is starting to look at who realistically needs to go. I hope his review is going on behind the camera too?
