Mine has to be Evil of the Daleks given how much time and work they put into it.

Not watched that one yet. Daleks masterplan is superb as is the new version of the massacre.

Does Marco Polo count?

The colour version of Marco polo has an introduction by mark Eden acting the role of Marco looking back at the adventure.

I think I'll go with the obvious answer and say The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve. It's one of those where you forget you're only watching audio over still pictures.

This is purely going by how well it was reconstructed, rather than the actual quality of the story. In that case I'd go for The Power of the Daleks and The Crusade (although, the former was a stand-out in how well it was reconstructed too).

Still getting into the recons so there are a lot I haven't seen yet, but really enjoyed The Massacre....and Power too. If I had to pick a favourite from the few I've seen so far....I'd go with The Savages! Not because I think it's a better story than those mentioned, more that I knew s*d all about it and was delighted about how good it was as a later Hartnell story that tends to get overlooked. Well put together as usual, with added 'effects' and a few clips; almost feel like I've seen it somehow.

I'll probably try '....Masterplan' next.

I know what you mean, some of the best reconstructions are immersive like that, to the point where some make me feel like I'm seeing the actual thing.

Unfortunately, there are some stories that are a little more "mobile" and simply don't work as well despite Loose Cannon's or others' efforts. Reign in Terror is one of my favourite Hartnell stories, and yet I feel the missing episodes that were reconstructed just aren't too effective at telling the story.
