I found it really strange, but now I think I know why - they're both attached to the professional dancers that they were after, so had to include them as part of the deal.

A bit like Trent Whiddon - except his wife Gordana wasn't announced as a pro dancer before the series, but appeared a couple of times.

Presumably, the new ones held out for a better deal.
