I'm one of those people who cry easily at TV, movies, sad songs etc and my family all know it.
However, the first time David Wicks left EE - when he drove off as Joe or Bianca (can't remember which it ws begged him not to leave) I was so upset that my brother still teases me about it. |

I cried so much when she died she was my fav soap character ever. When Paula Lane said she was pregnant again and leaving again I had a really bad feeling she would get killed off and I was right ![]() Fatboy He was my fav EastEnders character. I stopped watching EastEnders after he was crushed to death it's all just doom and gloom anywayHayley Cropper So sad! Roy and Hayley were like David and Kylie, only death would rip them apart ![]() By the way the way Fatboy went was a little hazy, it could be argued that he wasn't in the car as I have stated before so the door could still be open for him to return. |

The portrayal of death is never pleasant even if it is fictional.

Jack & Vera Duckworth Pearl's Husband in Emmerdale got a particularly memorable send off when he died and Kathryn Jenkins was singing - very emotional. |

I remember being a bit devastated when Bobbie and Fisher's son (although I can't even remember his name now!) died in Home and Away, but that's probably because I was much younger and tender-hearted at the time
and their deaths were quite unexpected and a wee bit gruesome (that fire!!! )Now that I'm older and somewhat wiser, I wouldn't say that I was devastated when a character exits, but there are some that I still miss more than others- Zoe Tate, Betty Eagleton & Brendan Brady mainly - and others that I'm sad were taken from us too soon - Deirdre, Blanche, Edna etc

I was really sad when Craig Dean left Hollyoaks the first time.
Great exit, though.I was also pretty gutted when Brendan Brady went, at least partly because they made such a royal hash up of his exit, which was crap. On ED, I've been sad that Val's gone - she's left a big gap. And Edna. And Declan. And (and I know he's not a big character) Robbie. I was absolutely gutted that they killed off Robbie. I really liked him. He should have died! Agree with you about Emmerdale's Robbie. Yes, he wasn't in the show for long (and he certainly was not a big character), but I think he should not have been killed off. I would add Carl King; not 100% gutted but his exit is still a pity. |

Massively improved character, sarky and intriguing, and great relationship forming with Megan. Big mistake, will always think that, and totally not needed. Aw yeah, Carl is another good one. He was excellent. |

Absolutely. Brendan deserved an epic exit, not that prison crap. Such a shame they bottled it.

Lynsey Nolan.
I first got into Hollyoaks during the Silas storyline so she immediately became one of my favourites. They kept her death a secret until transmission which added to the shock too ![]() I could never forgive Browning and even though Mercedes has improved of late, I still can't forgive her for covering his backside and letting a dead man take the blame. |

Karen McDonald - She had done something unforgivable by allowing Steve and Tracy to believe Amy was dead, but Karen was still grieving following her miscarriage and had been taunted by Tracy for sometime about her inability to conceive. When Steve kicked her out on Christmas Day, it was very sad to see someone as popular as Karen alone and with nothing left. Her last scene in which she looks on at everyone enjoying Christmas in the snow before getting into the taxi was really well done.
Gennie Sharma - Gennie was a lovely character, and she had been really happy onscreen having married Nikhil and being a doting mother to Molly. Her death was done chillingly, particularly the scene where she pleads with Cameron to help her. Sian Reese-Williams was brilliant with there being a realty to her performance. I've never actually cried at a soap apart from Gennie's funeral when they played a clip of her singing at the end, it was again very well done. |

100% agree. That is why I never understand people who enjoy it. That said, the most pointless and destructive character death for me was Emmerdale's Jackson Walsh.

Aw yeah, Carl is another good one. He was excellent. Jamie Shelton had two films to do. One of them won awards. I expect they were miffed about him leaving for that. As with Len, I don't think they like people leaving to do other things. Charlie Hardwick came under that blanket too. She was devastated (overused word, yes, but in this case true) to hear she was being killed off. |

Len wasn't her husband. Her one and only husband was called Ted. Peter Martin left to go on tour with a play, then joined The Royle Family.
Bill Tarmey Liz Dawn has emphysema. I don't know about BBC but ITV kill off characters to make sure the actor can't ever return to the programme That was Tom Lister's choice. I know it's a well worn cliche but he really did want to do other things. Jamie Shelton had two films to do. One of them won awards. I expect they were miffed about him leaving for that. I still haven't come to terms with Zainab's exit
Her exit was crap and out of character And then DTC did nothing but butcher her through his time on the show in an off screen capacity. |

All EE:
Angie Watts Den Watts x 2 Steve Owen Tiffany Mitchell Dennis Rickman Pat Butcher Why did they have to be killed off? They were probably the best characters they had. At least my other favourite, David Wicks, wasn't killed off. |

No idea why they axed Val, I don't have inside information. It was a mistake, leaving Eric with nothing to do, but at least she got a great exit. |

Don't think Jamie Shelton chose to leave. Robbie was axed, I'm pretty sure. He was making short films on the side, as quite a few of them do. It didn't contradict with his contract. It was also a time that the show was heading off in a different direction, bringing back the Miserable One, etc. He was axed as part of that change.
