I have been watching Coronation Street for years and sometimes they mention that they are going to the Weatherfield Arms, but you hardly see them go there

I think there were a few episodes where Liz used to work there but thats about it

Can you think of any other places in soaps that are mentioned, but we never see them

Yes we have. Every time somebody is filmed in a town (tho' it's probably really Leeds). Also the Police Station, which we see sometimes, is in Hotten.
Not sure whether we've seen Demdyke or Robblesfield though.

Fresco's was one of main locations in the 90's and featured in nearly every episode.

Grasmere (sp?) Drive in Corrie where Audrey lives. Audrey's house is always used for when they need members of the Platt family to be out of the way (like when Callum was murdered.)

Bettabuy was the first incarnation of the supermarket that Corrie featured and it appeared between 1989 and late 1993/early 1994 (can't remember an exact date).

In early 1994 there was a shift to a new supermarket, Firman's Freezers, a much smaller frozen food shop (think Iceland) where Reg and Curly both eventually worked. I believe the change in location was because the real supermarket they used for filming began trading on a Sunday and Corrie could no longer use the location. Up until that point all Bettabuy scenes had been filmed on a Sunday when the store was closed.

Firman's was the location for the infamous death of Anne Malone who died after getting locked in a freezer. Firman's was sold to Frescho in 1998.

Frescho gradually faded from the show in the early 2000s and has only made sporadic appearances ever since. If I remember rightly, when she first appeared, Izzy Armstrong used to work there. I think that may have been the final appearance of Frescho.

Not sure whether we've seen Demdyke or Robblesfield though.

I'm sure Otley once doubled up as Hotten back in the 1990s. But as you point out they'll likely use Leeds now instead.

Demdyke Row was obliterated in the plane crash of '93 but can't recall seeing it on screen either.

The Malt Shovel has been seen on screen (back in 1984!): http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/emmerdalepastpresent/images/6/6c/Emmie_malt_shovel.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20110612173849

And didn't Liz McDonald work at The Flying Horse? Might have imagined that!

Cheryl Braxton lives in Mangrove River and we have seen her house a few times.
Yabbie Creek has been shown a lot over the years.
I don't think we've ever seen Reefton Lakes though?

Liz worked at the Weatherfield Arms.

The Flying Horse appeared infrequently from the 60s right up until I think around 2009/2010.

Quite why the Weatherfield Arms was dreamt up as a rival pub to the Rovers when the Flying Horse had served that purpose for over 40 years has always baffled me.

If my memory serves me correctly, we saw Freshco briefly around 2013 ish when Roy went there to get some strawberries for Hayley but there wasn't any left. I think he had an argument with one of the staff or something.

The Red Rec has appeared in Corrie since the 60s. In early episodes it was constructed in the studio

Where was Nellie Harvey (Mollie Sugden) landlady? I remember her as being a sparring partner of Annie's.

Nellie Harvey was the landlady of the Laughing Donkey.

They later recreated this rivalry with Bet Lynch and Stella Rigby. Stella (not St Stella) was the landlady of the White Swan.

Ah thanks. I had a Stella in my head but didn't associate her with Bet. I thought it must be Michelle Collins' Stella I was thinking of.
