Anyone know anything about 3's home broadband router/box? Saw one in the shop on Sunday but ran out of time to ask about it. Can't find it on their site, looks like a small black elongated pyramid, has a yellow ethernet connector on the back.

It's actually disappointing to see how 4G has not really caught on in the UK as a home broadband alternative. In some European countries 4G is marketed as an alternative to slow data speeds over ADSL with mobile providers offering unlimited 4G bundles for home usage.

Isnt that just something they are testing in Northern Ireland http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php...n-ireland.html

Maybe, I found a photo of the device I saw in the shop;

Not a bad price, £17 for the 20GB rolling offer, while 40GB costs from £20 per month.

Are you in NI?

(wondering if they've either expanded the trial or turned it into a full product)

It was the Three shop in Grimsby, Lincolnshire. (England )

My home broadband is with Virgin Media who are for the third time in a year jacking up the price yet another 10% in November, so I'm looking into alternatives.

That looks almost identical to the Huawei B315, albeit with some changes to the casing. If it has the same innards it will be a great piece of kit.

3 in the ROI sell a 4G 'home' mobile broadband package that comes bundled with the B315.

It only had one ethernet port so it's probably the B 310

Ah yes - looks like it... I'd still expect it to be pretty good judging by other Huawei models.

Are you tethering? Asked in the shop today and said not allowed. They're not much help in there tbh.

3 price rises a year from virgin is about typical, I'm on 2 retention deals as I refuse to keep accepting 3 rises a year and would just go elsewhere. One retention is £9 and the other is £7, so I get £16 a month off the £38.

I don't have TV and don't want the home phone, this is just for the 100Mb/s broadband, not bothered about the speed, would go to BT 58Mb/s if virgin won't do me a good deal in January when my retentions run out, 12 month contract with BT £28. Only reason I'm on 100Mb/s with Virgin is the dire upload on lower packages.

Not amazed with Virgin, so could quite easily be tempted to BT, especially with a letter coming through the door every X months talking of price rises.
