Jay and Ben's friendship are one of the best things about EE. I think they both have a long future on the show. But are all the current articles about Jay just clickbait?
Characters without strong family bases seem to be leaving lately and I worry if Jay will be leaving soon to because his characters at the moment seems to a bit lost and aimless.

No, he was working yesterday so I guess that means as they are currently filming Novembers storylines I guess we can say he'll be around until xmas at least I would imagine.

Whether or not he'll be part of SOC's plans for next year I think remains a slight doubt though. Hard to see longevity in the character with a 5 year sex offenders tag around his shoulders. Think if DTC had remained in charge we'd have seen his exit by now. I think he was setting up an exit but maybe SOC has given him a stay of execution.

They ruined him really with the sex offended storyline but they could let Phil forgive him and give him a Job.

Some girl out there will look past his history so he could find romance

I know it's a big soap but I worry that the actor might get bored, of just being pushed from pillar to post and having to pull the same facial expressions and say the same lines all the times.

I agree, would be nice to see Jay going up in the world as a big hotshot winning the lottery or something !

Jay and Ben are one of about only 3 elements of the show that I enjoy and find interesting. It would be a big mistake to get rid of the character, unless the actor wants to go of course. Jay is so good for the Ben character.

I wouldn't like to predict what will happen to Jay though? It could go in any direction right now

If Jamie Borthwick had any acting ambitions he would have left by now. He seems happy to stay at EE for however long they want him.

Jamie is a talented actor who has every chance of going on to have a successful career away from EE but unless he is axed I don't see him making the decision to quit the show.

Jay could help mend Whitney's broken heart when Lee leaves/gets killed off..

I reckon that will happen at Christmas.

They could make a decent couple.

I sort of agree but then his agent is Barbara Windsor's husband, now surely if she felt he was a good actor she'd probably have told him to go and prove himself elsewhere.
I know he loves the show and is probably very loyal and has seen that if you put the work in you'll be rewarded like Adam Woodyatt who lets be honest is a decent actor but wouldn't get much work elsewhere yet its given him a very good lifestyle and set up for life. Whether any soap actor gets to stay in one role that long again though is another matter.

I don't think these two have even had much screen time together yet both have been there a long time. Would seem a bit contrived to bring these two together now when they have shown no interest in each other before.

If Jay sticks around, I'd prefer them to bring in a new family with a daughter so there is no history and he can be taken in by that family instead of the Mitchells. I really think he needs out from them because keeping him around he is only going to play second fiddle to Ben and Louise and possibly Courtney if she is made permanent.

Exactly, shes also the only one of her initial friendship group (her/Lucy/Lauren) that Jay hasn't tried it on with so he does have history with that age bracket, plus he used to be friends with Peter back in the day

Could he overdose, or is this dabbling with coke just a poorly written summer storyline?

Seems like that is forgotten about now. Another poorly rushed storyline which hasn't really had any proper build up, once again all the action supposedly happening off screen and the viewers are supposed to believe it.

I really don't hold out much hope for next week being that good either. I reckon a lot of it will just be Grant running around with Mark and maybe 2 minutes of actual action. I doubt we'll see much of Ben or Jay other than maybe in some room or in this van with a bit of blood on them.

DTCs legacy is sensationalism, rewriting history, general poor writing and utter dross. Jamie Borthwick could actually pull off a drug dependency storyline.

They may as well kill him off if that is all they can think of. He and Abi never worked, it was a silly childhood relationship, she dragged him down and he became a stupid puppy dog.

It would be more believable if he and Ben got together, at least they have genuine chemistry.

Ben and Jay are good, it would be easier it Ben had its own place, but the show has written itself into a corner with Jays current storyline, its hard to see how they will get out from under it.
